    Angry Freelander Wont Start... HELP!

    Howdy. first post here.
    My girlfriend has a 1998 1.8 Freedlander.
Driving home from a weekend away this afternoon. the car just dies.
we pull off the road and i try to start it again. the starter whirs like it is spinning but not making contact.
i put the car in gear and start it again. starter motor drives the car forwards but the engine is completely dead. its not seized as i can turn it over by hand. It also wont bump start. the engine is completely unresponsive.
I checked all the fuses in the engine bay. and made sure everything was plugged in. sprayed electrical cleaner on everything.
could it possibly be something to do with the immobilizer?

anybody have any idea what it could be. any input is appreciated.

Rotor buttons are common for making them just stop but with you saying that it doesnt turn over right it may of broke the timing belt. Remove the distributor cap and see if it turns when trying to start

If the engine is not turning over but you can drive it with the starter motor the flywheel has come detached from engine.
