Thread: Part needed!!

Dunno if this is the same, but back when I owned a Subaru L wagon they used to say that about CV joint boots. From what one mechanic later explained, once the boot is worn through the CV joint is on its way out. The boots were replaceable, but it was only a stopgap thing, the CV was going to need replacing soon.

I assume your are talking about a outer CV boot - I do not know if the boot can be purchased seperately but I have bought a new cheap outer CV complete on e-bay for about $60 which has the boot on it.

In any case - you can buy the outer CV and do not have to get a complete drive shaft.

I think you have been told porkies - and mechanics cannot understand why we don't believe us.
