Freelander 2001
HI,my name is Tony and I just became a member
I just purchase a freelander 2001 es 2.5L v6 (120000km)from auction and short after I got a lot of bad feedback about it, with them having a lot of trouble with engine and transmission.
I think the auto is playing up already,it is a great looking car but from the things that everybody is telling me, I am concern.
I understand that auto and engine are very expensive and even if gets replaced it doesn't last long before it brakes down again.
I am thinking of replacing them with a more reliable (new) transmission and engine if they do brake down .....
can that be done, has anybody done it already, is it costly or even even worth it ?
.....if yes what can fit ?
I like land-rovers....have I purchase a lemon, should I sell it ?
Please Help....!

Unless you have an excess of money over sense don't bother thinking about a conversion, would be an endless hole better served by buying something else.
However, I have a 2002 V6 and aside from bad fuel ruining the fuel pump and a pinholed cooling hose everthing is fine at 100K on the clock.
Spend a few bucks having someone with a reputation (a good one that is) have a look. It doesn't take much to make something full of electronics feel like a bucket of bolts.
If you find it has a high risk future but like Freebie, find a later model TD4.
