    Question TD4 Trade Question

    Greets all,

owned a 2003 TD4 for 10 months and now with engine compartment bung fuel pump (quoted $2k by local pirates) and am considering trading as is for 1999 TD5 Disco for a lazy $6k changeover.

Manual TD5 has excellent history and drives incredibly well yadda yadda...

Any thoughts from you learned people? Already have a '98 300TDi that we will move on late this year...

Curious to hear any points of view.

Also have found replacement pump online for $600AUD and may be able to get back Freeby on road for $1k but this is the 2nd time I've been dumped in peak with the little truck.... kinda lost it's charm now.

Thanks for any comments at all... really hooked into the LR after having endured a few Series reco jobs and all the rest... just this Freeby has skitzed our LR world.

    Yes I have the disease.....

    Cheers.

Quick follow up.. the Freelander is gone and tomorrow it's TD5 land... that motor is impressive

    Thanks for any interest.

.. now just got to offload the 300TDi.

    Cheers.

EDIT: Update for anyone looking.. here is a great option for the pump that proved the downfall: http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI....m=330325180416

Well I reckon that's a good move you've gone and made. Shame you didn't get more than 10 months out of the Freebie.

Hope you have better luck with the TD5

Make sure you get the oil pump bolt checked at some stage. Those early TD5s had a few let go because of missing Loctite.

    Cheers

Thanks David, yeah it was a good little set of wheels.

The TD5 has immaculate service history but I will take the bolt issue on board... thanks for the heads up!

Hope the hills aren't too cold at the mo'.

    Cheers!
