Good news - it stops all the oil leaks.

Just thought I would thank this thread because replacing the PCV filter fixed ALL the other oil leaks, including front main seal.

I have taken a few pics along the way with the replacement. Have to learn how to post them in here.

The job took only 20 minutes once I got the air filter cover off. Even after vacuuming around the cover there was still some dirt and stuff that dropped into the engine but there was a plate underneath the cover that catches it and allows you to clean it off with a rag. I was nervous disconnecting the fuel lines - be careful because the spring clips fly far. Suggest use needle pliers and grab and pull - don't flick.

I couldn't believe the price - bl00dy LR dealer, $76 for a bit of foam over a plastic cage no bigger than a golf ball, an O ring and two shaped slot gaskets.

Suggest wear surgical gloves because it is a messy job. I will replace it again in 100K

Clearly the intercooler will need cleaning-out or replacing; might explain the drop in performance and fuel economy. Anyone tried doing an intercooler on the Td4?

 Cheers, Demi

You will be able to wash the foam type. The one that come out did it look like a cotton reel?
To remove inter cooler you remove the front bumper and they come out the front.

I changed mine for the new style which does away with the filter - went down to the local BMW dealer, a bit of parts searching and we had the new one in town the following day. It took all of 20 minutes to fit.
