Thread: FL2 - Reduced Engine Performance...

The ECU has detected a fault and switched to default settings - commonly called limp home mode.

Hopefully just a clear of the codes will fix things or maybe just a dud sensor. Unlikey to be more serious stuff.

I have had it twice on my FL1 - first was a failed fuel temp sensor and the second was some crude in the fuel shutoff valve - the ECU codes pointed me to the right direction in both cases. While the check engine light was on the car drove like a dog bit still ran - not a lot of acceleration.

It could be anything but there's only one bulletin that I could see quickly that might be the problem & it's a software download for the turbo.

Fault code P0234

I had a similar issue with my Peugeot 407. After the dealer ended up replacing numerous components over a period of time - the actual fault was the battery! It seems that some European cars a battery that is not 100% will cause these types of issues to arise with the ECU.

It was strange that it too so long and so many replaced parts for the mechanics to suss out the actual problem and an easy fix.

This may not be the cause of your problem but it could be worth mentioning to the mechanic?

I've only heard this second hand but the problem was with the turbo and it required a software reset.

Sounds like it might have been the issue Scouse mentioned... or possibly what Yonjuro mentioned as a new battery was installed just before the problem appeared.

I'm wondering if when the new battery was being fitted they didn't let the computers shut down fully \ shorted something out they shouldn't have \ didn't perform the correct ritual scarfice to the appropriate gods etc and buggered something up.

Anyway its seems all is good now.

Well we've got it back but the turbo doesn't sound right at all..

Heres a really bad youtube clip but you can hear the whine of the turbo really clearly and when you back off the revs there is quite a blow off noise...

Is this normal?

Mine doesn't sound like that.

Wouldn't be unusual for Austral to have stuffed something up. I swear they never test any of their "fixes".
