    Stereo upgrade - MY11 HSE SD4

Im really not happy with the Alpine stereo in my Freelander 2 and am looking to carry out a pretty high end upgrade.

I would like to see if anyone else has considered this or who have already upgraded?

Considering the cost in doing this I want to get as much advice or people's opinions as possible.

Is there anything I need to look out for?
Can anyone recommend a competent installer in Sydney?
Does anyone know what size speakers will fit the factory speaker mounts?

I'm thinking about using a high end amp under the passenger seat with high level inputs (speaker wire in) to drive some pretty serious 2 way components in the front doors and coaxials in the rear, I'd really like to add a proposer sub to the rear but don't want to lose any storage space, I also would need a second amp for the sub and am not sure if I will have room under the drivers seat?

Would love to hear from other freelander 2 owners.

    I bit the bullet today.

Did some research and found a high end installer to handle the job.

Have booked in the following to be installed next week.

    Audison bit ten processor
36 SQ/M dynamat covering double skin on all doors plus boot
Fronts - HERTZ MLK 2 TW
    Rears - HERTZ HSK 165
Sub Amp -HERTZ - HDP 1
    Front & Rear Stage - HERTZ - HDP 4
    Subwoofer - JL Audio W712-3

This should be a serious improvement over the factory setup....

Ok, you wern't kidding when you said, "high end"

"Sounds" good. Certainly would be interesting seeing the install, if you can bet some pics.

But, I gotta ask, what does a setup like that cost?

The head unit is not replaced, this maintains the factory finish and controls etc...

I am dropping the car of on Monday and will request photos from the installer to post up. Install will take 3 days (providing all goes to plan).

Send me a pm if you want pricing details.
