I am hitting the same brick wall.

What about wheels adapters? Can someone shed some light.

    Good luck Vesko

For what it is worth, I ended up getting the 17" rims from Land Rover for $550/rim, down from $700 originally quoted. Their spare parts initially quoted $500 for the 16" oe rims, but after checking with their "UK expert" he advised the 16" oe rims would not fit my vehicle. I have no idea why because i note Freelander Dave fitted them to his Td4.

In the end I decided I was better off paying the extra rather than risk buying 5x16" rims which, for reasons I don't understand, may not fit.

As part of my justification, I hope to offset some of the purchase price by selling them separately when I part with the car.... Seems like there is a ready market for them!?

    Hey Rob, lucky you

But let me get this straight. You got 5 rims $550 each, total $2850!

There must be a cheaper option. I am still hoping someone will explain the wheel adapters and if they are suitable for Freelander 2.

    Something like this:

Set of Two 5 x 100mm To 5 x 100mm Wheel Adapters / 1 Spacers : Tire Shop Supplies, Automotive Equipment, Supplies and Services for Tire Shops including: Car Lifts, Tire changers, Wheel Adapters & Lug Nuts

I think you can't put 16" wheels on the petrol version because the disk brakes are bigger. The guy in another thread put 17" mondeo wheels on with big rubber. Earlier, Dorko bought 17" wheels from Speedy Wheels

    5 x$550 = $2750 and yes it is expensive. They started out at $3,500 (5x $700)

    In summary my rationale was-

Despite advices from others, Speedy Wheels advised both LR and my local tyre outlet that they don't make a 17" rim to suit the FL2. They advised local tyre outlet that they make a 16" rim, but after spending some time with me and looking at all the options, tyre guy was concerned the 16" may not fit. So I went back to LR to investigate 16" oe rim which was ruled out as outlined above.

The vehicle is in warranty and I don't want to give LR any sniff of an opportunity to rule out a claim because of after market fitouts. Plus, given the uncertainties (at least in my mind) I wasn't unhappy about getting the LR rims to retain the vehicle's orginality, rather than fitting ford/volvo rims

I also reached a point where I decided I wasn't going to waste any more time on what should be really simple, and so bought the 17s.

Anyway I am finally at peace with it and am looking forward to venturing up to Double Island Point and beyond...that is, when the tides and weather settle down.

    Again...good luck with it Vesko.

    That's a very good point.

I am also giving up - for my trip to lake Ayre I will probably buy one extra 18" rim with the standart Goodyear tyre and hope for the best.

Please enjoy Double Island Point and beyond...

I have 17'' freelander 2 rims and tyres

Like a few of you before me, I think I am about to run into a brick wall trying to source a set of 17's, other than paying $700/rim through Land Rover.

Land Rover suggested Speedy Wheels, as a much cheaper after market option, and made some enquiries on my behalf however Speedy Wheels weren't able to assist.

Enquiries with local tyre outlet also led to Speedy Wheels, who advised they only had a 16" wheel.

I also approached a couple of wreckers including British Off Road who were good enough to make some enquiries interstate, but to no avail.

Starting to run out of ideas and desparately want to avoid paying $700/rim.

Would anyone have any suggestions re further enquiries I can make.

    Thank you in anticipation.

    Regards
    Rob

Hey Robb, I can offer you these, i am looking for new rims and tyres for my freelander and do not want the 17 inch rim anymore.

    17' rims

    Hi launchingrout,
Are you still trying to sell your 17' rims? If so what do you want for it? What sort of tyres have you got on them?

I've got 19' rims on my fl2 and want to get some spare 17's

    Hi Chandra

I have some 17inch which are not rated for my Disco 3. Not sure if they would fit yours but you're welcome to them if they do. I think they are rated to 690kg. No rubber on them sorry. They fit a D3. I also have picked up some ex BMW X5 17 inch rims which are used on my D3. They can be picked up from flea bay often for silly prices as the BMW people seem to like skinny rubber on 19 or 20 inch rims. The last ones I brought were almost brand new and cost $10 each!
Pm me if you would like them

you gents should make a FAQ like http://www.aulro.com/afvb/d3-d4-rrs/...4-rrs-faq.html

makes finding details like rims, rubber and almost everything about our discos very quick.

    or this http://www.landyzone.co.uk/lz/f9/

    1. Rim offset
    2. Brake Caliper Clearance

http://catalog.thewheelwarehouse.com...x&cPath=35_379 has some data looks like 17*7 is the size PCD (bolt circle) is 114.3 but i can see referances to 110.
Offset is not clear. looking at mine I am sure they would not fit. Wonder what goes on a BMW x3 or similar?
