    Thanks, i got the impression that this was a recharging battery (charges when it's in the ignition)
    I might try removing the battery for a bit and then reinserting, assuming I can find out how to remove it.

    It's not removable and breaking the fob open requires it to be glued. The battery is soldered onto the circuit board. Not a trivial exercise but doable.
