Thread: MY2011 - Aftermarket Speakers issues

Hi There,

I have paid for upgrade the factory speakers on my 2011 SD4 and find that the front component speakers are lacking any form of treble/high end sound . The door twiters are active but i am not getting any high frequencies only mids.

Initial conversation with the installer poits at the head unit/amplifier but we have not investigated anything as yet
System: Hi Line system.
New Fronts: Morel Virtus 6.5 components
New Rear: Morel Maximum Coax.

The back door speakers seem to be ok but the fronts just lack high end.

If any one has any idea why this would happen i would most appreciate it.

Assuming you haven't blown the voice coils in the tweeters, I would check the crossover wiring first, and then the capacitor in series with the tweeter, second. The installer typically would place the crossovers on the inside of the door card, wrapped in carpet or foam, and then duct taped there. I suggest you ask your installer for details on what else could have gone wrong. Good luck.
