So I'm now the proud owner of a Freelander 2. Freo is just 4 days old and I'm pleased to say I reckon I have made a fine choice. The combo of Main Event discount instead of options plus ability to take advantage of the corporate scheme made the decision a timely exercise...
Now, I have a question... The only (minor) annoyance is the "Side Lamps On" green indicator in the speedo. Whatever I do that bright green, undimmable indicator remains on when the headlamps are on: I understand the need for the indicator when parking or when only the side lights are on while driving, but to have the green lamp on permanantly when driving is distracting during long night drives.
Is this the norm, or is it something that can be changed during the first service?
That minor query aside, I'm delighted with Freo and am looking forward to rhe next 4-5 years!
Chers, gaf.

Err thanks for the quick response but no. My previous 2 x VW's did not.
I don't care about the running lights: I don't see the point of a bright, distracting light in the speedo dial particularly when there is the ability to dim the instrument binnacle and central dash display!

Open it up and remove the globe or colour it with a black texter...
