    To extend Warranty or not...

It's been covered before by Mike....

I have a day to make up my mind (they told me late - very late).

Seems rear diff is good to cover....they want $2850 for the warranty for two years. That seem reasonable?

    Cheers

    late 2010 SD4 HSE..

Got mine for around 2300 .. If you get the Alliance coverage specifically for Land Rover, DPF is explicitly stated as not covered. However, if you get the generic Alliance coverage, DPF is not specifically mentioned as being not covered. So one could surmise that it is covered under the generic policy. Not sure if your model has DPF. If not then it is a non issue. Note however, this was a year ago since I last investigated before committing.

    Independent warranty coverage

    Hi All,
I have recently noticed a lot of companies offering mechanical policies. Some starting at around $50 a month, what are your thoughts, possibly cheaper over the two years than factory extended. I believe the clause is car has to be under 8 yrs and less than 100k.

    What are your thoughts?.

    Cheers

ahh LR don't offer factory extensions. They do it through Allianz...

I also see you can now buy the bearing etc to repair the rear bearing problem.

I purchased my Freelander 2 second-hand just before the warranty expired, and decided not to extend. The diff had already been replaced, but I sensed from the seller that he thought Landrover would have even come to the party if the diff had played up after the warranty period (?)

I have 3 months to decide, ive been offered cover for $1990, which seems a good price, but im not sure who the insurer is. I also note that there are various types of cover, some relate to time (2 years) while others have a km limit. I don't do a lot of K's so if i recall correctly, that price was for >100000km

The best price i had yesterday was $4300

The rep did mention they had just had a $600 rise recently.

Premium roadside assist(on it's own) seems very reasonable, although i have to compare it more thoroughly with the RACQ policy.
Looks like recovery is only 'on road',that is anywhere a two wheel drive vehicle can venture.
