Hi
how many ks has the car done?
I have just averaged 7.7L per hundred over 4500 k trip to Jindabyn and back to Hobart doing tough 4 wheeling and HW driving.I expect that that would be about average.

Hi Guys,
I am new to the forum, so please bear with me and any help would be much appreciated.
So..I bought a TD4 2.2l (110 kw) with auto transmission 3 days ago, and I am absolutely loving the car and drives perfect.
My question is on the fuel economy. The official combined is 7l/100kmph, urban is 8.1l/100kmph, but I noticed on my trip computer that the average economy is about 12.3!!!.... I have driven like 300 kilos in the last 3 days in the motorway and city driving, but 12.3l is bit too much.
Should I be worried about this? Or should I contact my dealer? Please advice guys.
Cheers.

Hi Spitzstick,
Thanks for you reply..mine has done only about 400 kms so far as it's only 3 days old.. and mine does not have auto start stop engine as its only a base model.
7.7 average on 4500km trip is not that bad when you do 4wd and mountain driving I guess..good stuff.
Yeah..with mine, may be I should give some more time and see how it adapts...not sure.
Cheers!

It needs to run in - 1st 1000ks or so it runs rich & everything is stiff. Our 6 year old 2.2 diesel gets about 12 all city short trips with heavy right foot. down around 7 on easy hwy - high 9's on hwy towing
Thanks Meken,
What i dont get is the difference between official claim and actual.. yep it needs to run in. Ill wait and see how it goes..Cheers!

Mine is 6 years old, had it since new and high 8's in town, high 7's on the highway. I have bigger tyres though. Flat out getting 12 on sand dunes so I wouldn't stand it for long. It is correct that the engine is stiffer when new and needs some time to bed in.
Thanks Mike

Hey Rover, I have an SD and have never seen it below 10 in city driving.. Sigh perhaps it is my lead foot.. Even tho I have around 19 K on my car I noticed that my consumption indicator do not change until I reset it.. Maybe something wrong with my indicator.. Perhaps it's best to calculate using the old fashion way ie. note Kms travelled vs diesel used between refills...
Welcome to AULRO.COM
From what I read in the 110 Forums, the new TD engines appear to get better with age,,
just be patient and enjoy!

SubscriberThe "official" figures are obtained in a series of laboratory tests according to ADR 81/02. The idea is to test all vehicles under the same standard conditions and eliminate 'driver' and other variables. No doubt everything is done by the various manufacturers to optimise the conditions to obtain the best result possible within the constraints of the ADR requirements. The test is simply a "model" designed to reflect road/traffic conditions so there can be a significant discrepancy with the actual experience of a driver out on the road .
The results are just a "snapshot" of a sample performance under a specific set of operating conditions. They do not necessarily represent every vehicle off the assembly line. Comparisons between vehicles tested to the same rules are probably quite valid. For a short overview and a good summary check out:

EDIT: things have changed significantly in our family of late and I must admit to being a bit of a fan of the FL2... I was stunned to learn that it probably has more useable space in the rear than the P38!!
