    Radio problems in MY2011 FL2

I've been experiencing an intermittent sound issue with the factory system in my 2011 FL2. It only occurs while listening to the radio, and sounds like some of the speakers are cutting in and out, or the system is switching between mono and stereo sound. The dealer was as useful as they always are with intermittent issues, if they can't replicate the problem on the short test drive, then it doesn't exist They have checked the connections at the back of the unit though, they were loose but after tightening it hasn't fixed the issue. The problem occurs randomly throughout the Perth metro area, so I'm confident it isn't a radio signal strength issue. Has anyone else experienced something similar?

    Welcome to the forum Stuart.

If this cutting in/out is only occuring with radio, as in no similar occurence when playing CD's, then it's going to be something related to radio reception.

Are we talking AM or FM here? Which station? All stations?

Could be something simple like a break in the radio attennae, which are in the rear side window, and the cabling that runs from it.

Thanks for the reply Cambo. It's definitely radio related, Cd's and Aux inputs don't have the same issue. I hadn't thought of switching to AM to see if the issue exists on both radio bands, will give it a try next time it happens. I will also ask the service tech to check the continuity on the antenna when it is in for a service next, see if it is a loose connection or break. Funny, it wouldn't be the first broken wire issue, LR had the car for two weeks a few years ago trying locate an intermittent issue with one of the engine sensors, turned out to be a broken wire in an engine harness.

Try some different stations, it could be the one particular station you listen to that has a weaker signal.
