Fuel pump?

There isn't many things on a petrol engine behaving like yours that isn't monitored by the ECU. So if the car hasn't logged any codes you could rule out any sensors. If I was to take a guess what your issue might be I'm thinking fuel pump.
Fuel pressure is not generally monitored so if the fault is not present at the time your mechanic had a look at the car he would see that everything is running fine. I'm thinking the bushes in the pump might be worn and every now and again the shaft chatters in the pump reducing fuel pressure and giving you your low power issues.
