    FL2 - Service Requirements

Does anyone know what the requirements for the 3 service types for the FL2 TD4 are?

The service portfolio only mentions that there are 3 types (A, B, & C) and that they follow the pattern A, B, A, C every 6 months or 12,000km.

I've been quoted $600 for my 24k 1yr B service but I'm concerned that the dealer is replacing things that don't necessarily need replacing at this time.

I think most of the extra cost would be for labour. I'm just guessing but apart from the usual oil and filter change they would be checking diff/gearbox levels, may change air filter, may pressure test cooling system, check wear on discs/pads, CV joints, steering and suspension components. I'm sure it'd get plugged into their computer as well.

So I really don't know what they do, but my guess is they check more stuff. What can they change as the car is virtually brand new?

Do you lose your warranty if you use another workshop for services?

Im always worried about that... but dealerships do rip you off, no doubt

    djh,

How did you go with your non dealer service? What items needed attention over the usual oil and filter?

If the 'b' service is $600 then I hate to think what the 'c' service is going to be worth.

Well I got ahold of the full service requirements from LR and gave it to my mechanic who got all the parts required and was able to do everything that LR specified to do except for change the A/C filter (which I didn't think needed doing anyway).

The only other thing he didn't (couldn't) do was connect up to the PC and reset the service warning and check for error messages.

He did find an oil leak from the turbo and mentoned that I'd bent the bar at the front of the fuel tank.

So its going back to Southside LR on Tuesday for a warranty call.
