the terbo is cooled an lubed at the same time,, as terbos spin at very high speeds, ( were talking around 100,000rpm at idel,, an when u give it sum upwerds of 300,000rpm,) there are no berings that can go at those speeds, so it uses a preserised layer of oil to stop it from metel on metel, an as it uses used gases to spin the terbo, thows gases are very very hot, an the heat transfers to the inlet side of the terbo an heats up the air even more when the terbo spins up, so oil is used as well to cool it, the air wants to be as cool as posibul befor it goes into the engine,

It looks like something similar to this is still happening even with the last of the 2.2L turbo Diesel engines. My MY2016 Discovery Sport is telling the same story.

There's no need to stress about it.

It will be oil mist carry over from the crankcase. The breather tube plumbs into the air intake about 6" along from the air filter. The oil will be seeping out the connections in your intake/turbo piping. Mine does it as well, and I just give it a wipe down when I do a service.
