    Freelander 2 wheel

    Hello All,

I'm looking for another standard 17" alloy wheel rim for my 2008 Freelander 2. Land Rover wants $700 for the standard cheapest rim...ouch! We are all such good drivers that there are none in wrecking yards yet.
Has anyone replaced the standard wheels and have a spare at home?

    Cheers,
    Mike

Is this so you can carry 2 spares?

I hit a rock out near Mt Dare and there is quite a gash in one of my rims. When I travel out there again I do want 2 spares on rims to be on the safe side. I can rotate 3 sets of 2 tyres as well.

If you're just after something to carry as a spare, you could always consider a Volvo rim??

(FL2 & the later Volvos share the same stud spacing & PCD)

You could just take a tyre and buy some tyrepliers http://www.tyrepliers.com.au/New/KIT100.html

This will save you weight especially important if you plan on putting it on your roof plus it's cheaper and you can keep when you change vehicles. However it will take more time if you need to change it.

Thanks I thought that the Volvo's might be the same. I had considered the pliers as well. However, I am told that alloy rims don't just bend like steel but basically crack/disintegrate if whacked too hard. I was just trying to be really well prepared. I reckon that wheels/tyres account for the biggest proportion of failures out bush. (and yes I would carry the extra either inside or on a converted bike rack on the back)

    Hey mate,

I got a set of rims for the FL2. Ring speedy wheels. They do 4WD rims for the FL2. They custom drill the holes and are legal rated to 900kg per rim. I search the country to find these. Only place i found

I got 5 offroad rims for $300 each i think... At the time they only had one rim that would fit over the brakes. But now they got a range, they look good the black ones.

I also have one 19' inch spare if you are interested. Got a few scratches though.
