The rack comes with mounting channels which are fixed to the mounting points of the roof and the rack feet then slide into this. Two holes need to be drilled in the aluminium channel cover which runs from the front of the car to above the rear door. The FL2 actually has five mounting points in the roof, essentially an empty bolt hole waiting for a bolt to go in.

    Front End Protection

No, this is not about condoms. It has taken me some time but I found an A Bar (read nudge bar) to suit the FL2. It is available from Equipe Automotive 4X4. Just add .com.au to get their web site.

I have also been in touch with Andrew Dolan, of Dolan Australia, who is a Bullbar Broker, of all things! His website is dolan.com.au He has informed me no-one at this time has a bullbar to suit the FL2. If the car could be in Brisbane for 2-4 days drawings could be done and a bar manufactured. I suspect the supplier would ECB or their new subsiduary Barjo. I hate to imagine what the cost would be.

As we are in the middle of a $5,800 repair to the front end of our FL2 we will be investing in an A Bar. Would have been a good investment for less than $600 (thats bar and delivery, no labour).

    Hope this helps someone else.

I might be able to make my FL2 up available for a few days later on this year if someone wants to do some measurements.

I wouldn't want a bullbar fitted to it but it will probably be sitting around for some time while its regular driver is overseas. So I could arrange for it to be available for some R&D work.

    Thumbs up

Cheers for that, djh. My guess is, it will all come down to a question of demand, which will affect cost. The more made, the less expensive they will be. That said, unless someone does make a car available for measurements and drawings to done then there will never be a bullbar made, in Australia at least.

It would be a huge gesture on your part to make your car available, and I, for one, would be most grateful . Would there be any other folk interested in having a bullbar, I wonder?

Andrew Dolan, the Bullbar Broker, can be contacted at andrew@dolan.com.au and he would put you in touch with the manufacturer offering to do the measurements. I have no idea who it is.

If there is some demand for a Freebie bullbar, I'm happy to speak with my fabricators for a production run. I have (well, my wife has) a Freelander 1 TD4 that has been nigh impossible to get a nudge/bullbar for.

I currently do a limited range of "roo bars" for P38A Range Rovers through my hobby/business Hard Range and could add Freelander stuff to the stock if you guys/gals(?) think there is sufficient demand.

The fabricators are based in Brisbane so I'd be looking for a local donor vehicle for design specs and a "very special discount" to meet with them for measurements and tooling.

BTW: Andrew Dolan is a good bloke that I have regular dealings with, and if you have already kicked off something with him I'll just bow out gracefully

    Cheers, Paul.

Thanks for that Paul. I personally haven't kicked anything off with Andrew Dolan, other than making an enquiry. But judging by all the responses there doens't seem to be much demand. Which I can understand, why mess up the handsome front of a FL2?
And while I would happily make my FL2 available, not practical from Katherine.... (thinks; what an awesome drive to Brisbane it would be...)
    Cheers,
    Andrew

We make a front plate for the FL2, protecting the radiator/intercooler, but you have to cut out the lower front plastic to fit.

    Cheers,

    Inside,

Thanks for the links, i have been looking for an after market rack for the wife's FL2 as the OEM is far too expensive.
