They are well know to being very sensitive to over heating with dropped
cylinder liners and blown head gaskets, I had heard they moved the thermostat to help fix the problem but due to the design they are prone to failure.

I would imagine since it was such a common engine (Rover, MG as well)
that someone would come up with a good fix.

this what my brother had done to it . But the restriction are tight in the racing he was doing do you could not do alot . His was a pre production freelander he bought from Saftey Devices . It was there show truck to show what roll over kit they could do for the freelander and also the test bed for the camel freelander roll cages.

visit to the Autosport show in January 2004 introduced us to PTP (recommended by scrutineer Robbo). They are part of the Trinity group and were hugely helpful. We were very restricted to what we could reasonably do. The regs state that the valves must remain standard, as with pistons and porting of the head is not permitted. The throttle body must not be enlarged. After discussions with Robbo and PTP, we went for a 140 head kit – as this was all that we could do. An ITG air filter has also been fitted.

    Hi everyone!

I'm new to this forum and I thought this would be a good place to start. Here are a few photos of my 04 Freelander Td4 on one of its first trips out. So far I love it, but as you all know clearance is a issue. Hoping to get some bigger tyres when these ones need replacing.

Hasn't been any new images here for a while, so I volunteer a couple.

Here's my old Freebie XEi K1.8 - great car... lots of fun and surprisingly good power

and here's my wife's TD4 being just a little obscured by another Landie... wonder if you can guess what the "other Landie" is by reading the number plate?

    cheers, Paul.

Disco Retro - this cleared strip is the (unnecessary) new highway under construction from Lancelin to Cervantes, right across some favourite 4WD trails.
