Camo and I love our Mickey Thompson Claws and they perform well... have read reports about possible weaker sidewalls on them so the Maxxis Trepadors are the clear favourite, similar pattern, stronger sidewalls.

Got talk to Brett at AusTyre and tell him you're a club member (does great prices and sometimes better). Details are in our recommended suppliers section

    Hey Mark,

If you are buying some 35's dont buy Bighorns. Im not saying they aren't a good tyre, but there are much better ones out there. In the same vein, Mickey Tompsons and so on I would also avoid.

As has been said Creepys are a Bias ply which even ignoring the size rules isnt legal in Qld, and despite Grimaces arguments otherwise, will be posssibly dubious on the road. They do work well off road though and I am quite impressed with them, so if that doesnt bother you could be a good option.

Treps seem good, although the only ones I have seen in use have been sticky compound 37's. I also dont think they would be very good in mud.

I would keep an eye on Outers and 4wd action and grab a second hand set of whatever comes up. Be it Simex, Swampers, Treps etc etc

    Rgds
    Pete

Another Tyre shop recommendation is Ryan at Fourby's on Ipswich Rd in Moorooka 07 3892 2766. They occasionally have clearance specials etc which are fantastic. He is also an active member on Outerlimits.

When I was hunting on tyres for the Cape last year he was better on price than the shop recommended at the coast. Also better for me as they're quite close.

For that kind of money you could have Claws, not tyres from Taiwan

The other tyre that comes to my mind is the Procomp Xterain.
Both the Mickey Thompson and Procomp come out of the same factory, Coopers Tyres USA

I know they are out of fashion at the moment, but the best value off road tyre IMHO is still the Silverstone Sports, about $200 and a bit.

Gee Noz you know how to start long threads.
