i want to weld some bits on my disco.
what precautions should i take?
in days gone by it was suggested that you disconnect the battery to protect the alternator before welding on a car, but i am wondering what happens to computers etc. on these modern computer controlled cars.
i want to weld with an arc welder, i think most people nowadays call it a stick welder.
my intention is to just tack weld some bits and remove the thing and complete the real welds off the car.
any suggestions?
nope just drop the earth leads off of all of your batteries and keep the earth for the welder as close to the work as practicable.
I have heard it said that if possible attach an earth lead from the add on bit to the bit your adding too. the theory being that if your earthed to the bit that your adding then theres no stray "spark" floating round looking for somewhere to go.
