    How Much UnderDrive is TOO MUCH

    With several members now with extreme underdrives fitted I am looking for the answer to the question....
    What is your total final drive ratio and how do you find it works?

    Hey Gary

    Std low range in mine is 43.4:1
    underdrive is 116.76:1

    (269% lower)

    I am running std 3.54 cw+p's

    The biggest advantage of the Underdrive is that it doesnt mess up your existing gearing

    At the Springs the other weekend the Underdrive was awesome.... I could idle everywhere including up the rock tracks behind the house.

    At the wet levuka a few weeks earlier not so much!

    You are more than welcome to have a go in it next time we catch up.

    80:1 is good

    120:1 is great

    150:1 is gettin silly but still cool

    anything over 180:1 is too much!

    Love this bit

    Pls note, although the Underdrive will fit the Disco LT230 transfer case it will foul the rear footwell so the bodywork will have to be modified to clear.

    I think Grimace summed it up pretty well.

    If you go too low you can do as much damage because to the torque multiplying factor, I saw a brilliant youtube a while back of a jeep flipping over in slow motion because it just didnt stop - up up and over. it was going up and over a rock
