Yep, got back and it was bloody fantastic

The Saturday drive was great, and the Sunday run up Morbid track was also a good run. The first hillclimb was the toughest for most, especially the un-locked vehicles. The recovery gear also got a good workout, but no winching or anything too out of the ordinary.

The Coffs Harbour 4WD club crew were great, friendly and generous in offering up there time to show us around the place. As Drivesafe mentioned, a LR mechanic helped in his predicament.

One final note, Peak track on the DVD doesn't do it justice IMO. You must get out there and see it for yourself. Some 'brown undie' moments for some of our crew

Glad to hear all had a great time.
It was a bit of a worry organising the accommodation for all when you have no idea what its like, but it turned out ok with Rover trail only 2km away, and the cabins and villas were up to spec.

The tracks were a lot more challenging than the video and I do apologise to all the wives and partners that have never been on terrain like that. But now you can see why your husbands/partners need to spend more money on tyres, lockers etc.

We only scratched the surface of tracks in Coffs and more investigating needs to be done.
If it makes you feel better Tim about your seal, dont forget one of the Coffs boys tore the radius arm mounts of the diff of his 80 series Toyota.
Just remember these tracks are not nana tracks, I thought all the club members did bloody well up Koala and down Peak tracks.

I tell you what though I have done my quota of being at the back of convoys for this year. While all you guys up the front had fun, we worked our guts out down the back with recoveries etc. Not only did I drive down Peak track like all did, but I also walked down and back up. My thighs are still screaming in pain. This trip really highlighted the need for terrain specific tyres and reliable vehicles.

I think we should donate something nice to the Coffs Harbour 4wd club for them to raffle at a meeting as thanks for the time and effort they put in. It was a pleasure to drive with people that just like driving and having fun and not taking the **** every chance they get. I must admit though, with the way everybody drove someone who liked taking the **** would have had a quiet day.

Sunday, well another day of great tracks very hilly clay based tracks with some very steep and loose rocky hill climbs, but very driveable with good tyres and a locker or two. Man those mountain bike riders must carry their you know whats around in a wheel barrow. We did Morbid track and Rover Trail, then onto the beach for lunch. We then drove down to the jetty in Coffs and onto the beach for a nice arvo drive. Its amazing how far you can get a Range Rover along these tracks without engaging your centre diff hey Josh!!!!!!.

Myself and family along with Craig (loadedisco) and Goeff and Vicki ( Fat50 ) had a leasurely drive home with no problems other than my left hand rear wheel trying to part company with the Rangie. Point to all, if fitting newly painted alloys, remove all paint from the bolt up faces so it cannot come away by itself and cause the nuts to come loose!

Thanks to everyone for attending and helping . Its a pleasure to spend a weekend with such a good group.

PPS "CONVOY PROCEEDURES" or lack of, drive at the back of a convoy like we did most of the time and you will see what I mean. Pls keep the vehicle behind you in sight at all times where possible and wait before you turn at an intersection for the vehicle behind you.

glad you guys all got home safe. i second the idea of a gift to the Coffs club. now to see the photo's appear . And Justin, you did a super job out there!
(and i agree that there was a lack of convoy procedure ) but damn, it was a good run....

Yes I agree. I did my bit as did all of our club I would hope Like you said, it's not rocket science I've been on trips when drivers are disoriented in which direction and we have lost a few people (not on my trips thankfully) and this can get ugly with some nasty confrontations

Maybe as a rule that we have one printed out and carry a couple of copies on trips so if we do have newbies on trips that they're aware

Just a thought.

Great trip and well put together, wish I didn't get back on Sunday (Bloody work ), but still had a good 1 hour run up and down rover trail with X-box and Caveman, although I missed the entrance .

Thanks for all your work Justin before and on the trip. Thanks to the coffs club as well for their time. My family really got into the weekend and if anyone knows how to convert 8mm onto dvd i have over 50mins of trip on tape recorded by my good misus for those who did not make it.

I my be able to help if no one else can... i have a mate that does it as a business so would have the correct equipment.

OK so where is the ding thread.

Add one engine sump cover $1500 and one windscreen $1950 and I was only there for one day.

But I can’t wait for our next trip down there though.
