Don't dream too hard about owning a G-Wagon. They are not that good. There were quite a number run by Non-Government Organisations when I worked in Kenya and there were a lot of complaints about them. Not sure how they can justify the pricing.
The Merc I really liked was the Uni-Mog. Now those things are beasts!
We had a mix of Defenders, Hi-Luxes, Pajeros and Land Cruisers and the Defenders were always the first cars to be snaffled from the car pool. Guess which one was the last to go (it starts with P...).

I did some searching on the 'net and it seems neither Bilstein nor Koni do a shock for yours. I wonder who makes the OEM unit? Boge?

Have a look at http://www.paddockspares.com/product...ory=Suspension
No pics unfortunately but the prices are far better.
Wait, pic here: http://www.roverparts.com/Parts/RNB000740G.cfm - hmm, looks expensive. Oh, it is.

Hi Ron, Fitting might not be quiet that high but there is a lot of work involved with changing them and then there is a wheel alinement to be done so there is not going to be much change from a grand.
That part you have is the alternative offered to me by the dealer and that is still $1400 each.
Cheers and thanks.
PS at the point, it may very well be something other than the shocks. I’m now looking at having a valve in the steering check because it can cause similar problems and it’s under the warranty.
I especially loved the quote "Comparing a D3 to a Patrol is like comparing a typewriter to a computer." It was bloody gold. I am still laughing.
