Why would you travel with kids.....why???!!!

For those considering traveling for extended periods of time with young children.......DON'T For those who have already done it, you know what I am talking about.
Em and I have only just receovered from 30 odd hours of traveling in a 3 square feet of space with Andrew and Charlie and I tell you, there will have to be a bloody good reason for me to attempt it again. In fairness they weren;t that bad but they tag teamed the sleep and just wanted to run around the cabbin for both the entire flights.....which if course meant zero sleep for mum and dad
Anyway, made in to the UK in one piece - although the pram copped it, don't you love baggage handlers who take pride in their work - and although quite mild (8 degrees celcius) it has not stopped raining. Andrew and Charlie do not know what a rain jacket is and get quite upset when you try and wrap them in one.
Still waiting for that relaxed and on holiday feeling but i'm sure it will come eventually
Hope you are all well and will check back in every now and again to see how you are all doing and perhaps post some pics while I go......even though I have no idea how to post pics but will try.

    All the best, aye, Mick

I've only had a couple of short flights with the kids.

However a friend of ours who regularly flies long distance has been know to dope her kids up with this stuff.

    kids

Your a gamer man than me. Just flying from Sydney to Coolangatta with Patrick when he was a little tacker was enough, let alone 14 & 8 hr stint. It hurts to think about it.

    Regards Justin

Will start on your car next week.

Good to see you survived the trip and arrived safely on the "other" side....

That holiday feeling you talk about will materialise once you get back to the sunny Gold Coast

Have a super time and keep the updates coming , with pics

Glad to hear you got there OK folks - even if KOA (knackered on arrival).

The only way to do it Mick, is what you're doing - start 'em early, get em used to it and keep them in check

We've only got 3 little ones now, but they are great travellers. The older two were "taught" and "trained" early too!!

Erin is worse now that she's a teenager than when she was young!! hahaha

Have a great break and a Merry Christmas to you and the family.

Don't worry about the rain - as Billy Connolly says - "Of course it's
    Fng raining you're in Scotland!

Have a few pints of the black stuff for me!!

I have a 2-y-o and she has been trained since 4 1/2 month old - she was born in Geneva and we travel back to Oz at least once a year (beauty of an expat deal). The little one's first year of life was 2 return trips from Switzerland to Oz and one to Canada. She's brilliant. Loves the travel, the planes and all ... she even likes airline food

But, the ratio is 2 of as against one of her. That makes sense: it's tag-team for the parents. I probably would not do this with 2 little ones...

ow.. and keeping kids quiet using chemical methods: highly discouraged. The stuff you could give to kids (at least under 2 - and I can't remember what the stuff is called) had the problem of working THE OTHER WAY on a lot of kids. Not a achance I'd take.

To be honest, short flights are not good. Nothing to do for the kids. Long-haul things can get better. Our last trip to Oz from Geneva was very good (in-light Wiggles on Qantas helped). Return trip from Cairns was even better - she slept for most of the Singpore - London leg. Mind you, she was so tired she fell asleep before the plane took off from London for Geneva - most peacefull flight so far

Anyway, I guess it all depends on the kids... I am lucky. She WANTS to go fly somewhere now (jet-setting toddler)

So we're off to London for Chrissy...
