Thanks all, have woken feeling pretty sore, kids are happy...no school today....as no cars in the driveway :). Will see if I can take some pics this arvo as have to get things out of the boot of the car as they cut all power on the car for safety reasons. I think we were pretty lucky on this one,

P.S. FL2 or new XR6 would be nice, but more likely get something a little more reasonable...we will see though :D
Interesting you say that, as the cop asked me if I saw it was a council vehicle....my terse response was all I saw was a Hilux pulling out in front of me....I wasnt looking to see what sort of info it might have had on the vehicle, more like braking to save mine and my stepsons life. What was worst he turned a good 10 plus metres before the illegal entry anyway, he would have had to travel down wrong side of road to enter:mad:. He knew straight away he was wrong, he could have taken 2 x lives over the fact there was an aggresive dog somewhere....guess they never got to it,Quote:

Good to see you are both OK, Steve. Bloody scary.
What is of concern is that the airbags didn't fire. (I can't see pics here at work so I don't know bad it looks.)
Thanks mate and yes it is a worry that the airbags didnt delpoy. The emergency services people on the scene said they should have due to the impact. The XR6 did punt the Hilux in the air and at least 10 plus metres, so was a fair whack.Quote:

Can council vehicles break road rules in QLD, if thats the case what is stopping the drivers from driving around at breakneck speeds or with a high BAC?
I can see emergency services having the ability to bend rules for their own benifit but not a council ute.
Good to see all involved in the accident got out uninjured
Well went and got personal belongings from car and took some snaps. They are unsure whether it is repairable or will be a write off, basically it is hinging on the chassis and whether damage was done to the engine. They won't know until they get the front removed....am pretty ticked ( insert appropriate extreme language) off now , negligent driving on the council bloke...driving a council vehicle...no inconvenience. Will be going to doctors on weekend as not feeling crash hot:

hope you're ok firstly. for the sake of your health and any potential injuries/side-effects, get checked out asap. also not being checked over by a doc within a "resonable" time-frame leaves too many open doors for the insurance company to leave through in case of any compensation/medical bills. i have worked in insurance, but please dont take my advice as anything other than my personal opinion.
the engine seems to be sitting square on its mounts. its just that left front rail that i guess will be the decider as you mentioned. have u had a chance to look under it yourself?
Yep, I agree, going Saturday as neck, chest and some other funny feelings are happening, so will get sorted then. No, didnt look under vehicle and to be honest would be a waste of time with me....I wouldnt have a clue what to look for :). Where it has crunched into the engine at the front, they dont know what sort of damage has taken place there....Im keeping my fingers crossed there is some damage as they wont replace the engine. Will know Mon/ Tues,Quote:

well if it was me, i'd be hoping to get the nod for new car shopping soon :) thats a ba, if i'm correct? are u with one of the companies that do new for old replacement? my old company only did 1yr, but i know that a couple now do 4. anyhoo, if u do look under the car, just check for what looks like a chassis rail thats been fibreglassed/embedded into the bottom of the floor/firewall and runs along the underside of the car. if its creased/cracked(likely near the front wheel), there's your answer.
