Impromptu day trip to Casino NSW

Bit of an impromptu trip to Casino NSW.

 Left Tweed first thing, with

 Justin (Dranged), Anneka and Patrick
 Greg (Mater)
 Eric (The 109)

And myself in a small convoy of 3 cars.

These were Justin’s RRC, Greg in 'Left and Right' his coil sprung 100” series 1, and Eric’s supercharged 109.

Fairly uneventful trip down, although Greg had been suffering with a few fuel pick up problems. More of those to come!

Got to the camp site, and let down and changed tyres. So into the tracks:

We ended up splitting up for the first 30 mins or so to do a bit of recce’ing

While Greg, and Justin were successfully navigating around, Eric and myself (offering expert guidance ) had managed to reverse his car off the edge of collapsed bridge!! This had a very very deep drop (3 or 4 metres) To be fair it was incredibly overgrown... ) had managed to reverse his car off the edge of collapsed bridge!! This had a very very deep drop (3 or 4 metres) To be fair it was incredibly overgrown...

When the others found us we used Justins RR as an anchor and soon were free!

This was the drop (not overly clear here)

After that little drama, we decided to clear a bit more

And then found these signs. (Dont let the sign take away from the fact that Eric is stuck here ) )

This is the new Highway we created (Compare this to picture 1 - they are the same place!)

 Bit of scenery!

We ended up removing the protection plates of Greg's due to heat build up

Quite a bit of fallen tree removal:

 Eric stuck in a tree:

This track started to get very very narrow (We were heading down here as it looked to be heading towards a river)

 This was it

Anyway, the way home, to Casino for a KFC, before the start of the trip home.

So heading back, now think back to Greg's earlier fuel problems…..

The tank that was working better ran out, then the other tank, blocked the oulet so he stopped on the side of the Motorway

After a bit of discussion we decided to pressurize the tank outlet with the air locker compressor and see if we could dislodge the debris from the pickup…

Couple of notes / warnings here…..

 If you do this:

A Don’t build the pressure up to 100psi and then let it go in one go….

 And secondly.

 B. Don’t leave the fuel cap off:

This was the (accidental) result of our new approved fuel system clean out tool.

A 2” fire hose spray of petrol the width of the hard shoulder, and half the motorway!!

This had everyone in tears of laughter for ages!!

Justin then left his phone on his bonnet to round off the issues for the day!!

Was an excellent day, alhough we didnt find that many technical tracks.

Cheers for the space in the passenger seat Eric!!

 Cheers
 Pete

I tell you what I have'nt laughed that much in a long time I can still see that huge plume of Premium shooting out of the filler. Then driving down the motorway watching my phone sliding around behind my intercooler. Even though we did,nt find any great tracks we still had a good time. Although I did jinx myself when I said to the kids how good is it when nothing happens to our car on a trip!!! next tree snapped my UHF aerial off the base I can still see that huge plume of Premium shooting out of the filler. You get trips like that sometimes, done a few although not great driving-wise they're always memorable.
