I spent yesterday around Sloane Square, Kings Road in Chelsea (London); admittedly it is one of the wealthiest ponciest areas in London (I was visiting the National army museum), but it really is Range Rover Central. You would hardly believe it, almost every tenth car is a RR or RR Sport, all extremely new and shiny and top of the range (HSE /Vogue) with the largest shiniest wheels I have ever seen on RRs. And virtually all driven by fit blondes between 30-45.
Then when you get to the countryside Defenders are working in every second field, that is nice to see.
I have just returned to England from The Somme in France and Passchendaele on the Ypres Salient, and have visited the Australian memorials at Pozieres, Villers Brettoneux, Fromelles and Butte (Polygon Wood)and the Menin Gate. I have collected some pine cones from Polygon Wood from soil steeped in Aussie blood and endeavour, so it will be interesting to see if customs allow me to bring them back in.
The weather here is brilliant. It doesn't take long to get back to old habits -going out to eat at 9.30-10.30pm, when it is still light at that time. Pretty civilized drinking a few ales outside the pub watching the swans and ducks (and fit blondes in Range Rovers!)
Have a great meeting on Thursday chaps.
See you soon,
Rob G

Yeah, I spoke to several fit blondes about coming to "strya" but they have been so put off by Ricky Ponting's holier than thou petulant strutting that they have hesitantly declined leaving one of the most civilized places in the world to come to the Gold Coast. Amazing! And it is all "BAB" already (Bonuses are back!) Bankers have already returned to the pre GFC days and are paying bonuses of >£1/2m. If it wasn't for public apathy, watching the cricket in the forlorn hope that the Poms might come up to the mark against the Aussies, and enjoying the short gorgeous summer weather, they would be a revolution with the amount of disparity of incomes between the ******* "something in the city" and ordinary working citizens.
I have just returned from Amsterdam and Rotterdam at a large jazz festival. Brilliant music fantastic audiences, huge amount of weed around everywhere, and am leaving England for Sidney tonight. And will be back next week if Aussie customs let me though and bring in the pines cones from Polygon Wood. I have written a heartfelt and moving description of the "pine cones steeped in Australian blood and sacrifice from within 200m of the 5th division memorial in Polygon wood where the AIF suffered over 5000 casualties, over 50% have no known grave etc.," It will take a heartless customs beast not to let me through with them.......
Anyway, take care everybody and see you soon.
cheers, robg
