Good work on finding another rig, Trav.
I knew you would. Great price. I paid $800 just for a new Radiator a few months back!
So basically you got the truck for free!;)
Look forward to seeing it in action:twisted:

You can't keep a Rangie owner down, once you have one regardless of any other LR you can't get away from them and I'm lovin' it :D:D
Just arrived this arvo on my front lawn, I would have it in the shed but she don't want to go anywhere with a horrid clunk, clunk, clunk from the gearbox. It moved about 6 feet and stopped  Engine took a few turns and splutterd into life, nothing a good service would fix and some degreasing.
Had a real good look at her, pretty straight and generally a decent rig and should come up pretty good once I sort out the suto gearbox issue. They'res a nasty rust hole in the floor (about 400mm long on the passenger side) and the RHS door has had the rust worm attack it too and the electric seat on the drivers side plasy silly buggers (the mirrors move instead of the seat, something to do with the ECU for the preset memory seats). the firewall has started to rot a bit but it looks as if it's been prevented judging by the layer of deadener but will investigate further.
I didn't expect a showpiece for a grand and it's a hell of a lot better than I thought it would be. Rangies are a funny vehicle, they rust from the inside out
Trav
Almost impossible to find a Rangie Classic with Air Con & no rust under the floor. Mine also has some cancer on the firewall under the Brake Booster area.
"Tectyl" is truely awsome stuff for stopping any further rust and also preventing rust. You can buy it in a spray can now. You probably already Know about it, but just in case.
I Have drowned every lap joint on the body of my truck a few times now and despite having some lap joints with gaps for water and mud to get in, the rust just wont touch it. I sware by the stuff:) I sprayed the front floors with the stuff once 10 years ago and i still have an Air Con leak beleive it or not, but the floor has no further rust at all. My truck still has the original upper tail gate frame and it has some rust spots from earlier on in its life, but nothing since I attacked it with the Tectyl. You wont find a Gold Coast Range Rover 20 years old with an Upper Tail Gate frame as good as mine.
I owe it to that the magic stuff!
I beleive part of the reason why it's so good is it never drys. It always has some degree of tackyness to it.....thats the only negative thing about it really.
No I dont own the company or have shares in it:p
you're right about tectyl buzz, best stuff for flying boats, ally doesn't like salt water.
another good valvoline product
