I received the following PM via the Jeep Forum, can I get an answer to her questions.
Hey Gary
After a few coldies at the pub Keith and I both agreed that it was a top day out wheeling with a different group of 4WD's. The variety made the day more interesting. We also noticed that some of the boys have been to The Battle of The States. We have gone every year except last year. Its the best fun because you are wheeling with all types of 4WD's. We like that the best.
But I have a friend in america that comes out here quite often and he is looking for a older model 110 style Land Rover. He likes the shape and wants it for beach driving to go to remote surfing areas. Do you think the guys in the club could help me help Greg (yank) to find a decent running 110 style station wagon. He found one in Australia that was $3000 but I thought he might be buying someone else's headache. I have no idea what a good price would be on these 4WD's. Maybe if I could link up Greg with the club and put it out there that there is somebody looking and so on.
If you could help or point me in the right direction that would be great.
Thanks , Mel

I agree with his comments, looking at the pics from the weekend, it was good to see Jeeps and LR's together. At least both these brands have a bit of character about them, unlike the boring Jap ****.

His best bet would be a V8 110 County of more than 25 years of age.

						Hi Gary,
I am sure we could find someone to view one if he finds one, the AULRO family runs wide, and if local GC/Bris we would definately find someone to view. Maybe give them you email (or mine if you prefer) and get them to email anything through they have found and are interested in, and we can post up to provide comments and to arrange viewing. Thoughts?
Are the going to be doing big KMs? I.e. are they planning on driving around Aus etc? or just say Brisbane to Sydney. This may sway a decision between V8 County Vs TDi Defender etc and also the age and condition suitable.
I read the post as he wants it for the USA, hence the suggestion of V8 of over 25 years. He won't be able to import a Defender diesel to the USA. Over 25 yo vehicles get an exemption.

I have spoken to Mel, she thanks all who have added to this thread.
Her friend has been reading the progress
The plan is to drive the proposed Land Rover over here, He is married to an Aussie girl and they come out every year for 4 weeks.
I do not know where or how far they drive, but if he plans to be following Mel anywhere the truck better be very capable. Mel is a very good wheeler and takes her XJ places where more capable trucks have backed out of.
She was even thinking ex military defenders. Around the 1985 years.
