    Janowen Interclub Jamboree

Just a few photos available here - Janowen Joint Club Trip album | TimJ | Fotki.com, photo and video sharing made easy.

Had a great weekend though I had to leave early this morning and missed today's drive. From the challenges it does appear that a S3 SWB has a better turning circle than a Puma 90 and just about everything else . Will be interesting to see who paid the judges the most......

    TimJ.
Snowy - 2010 Range Rover Vogue
Clancy - 1978 Series III SWB Game.
    Henry - 1976 S3 Trayback Ute with 186 Holden
    Gumnut - 1953 Series I 80"
    Poverty - 1958 Series I 88"
    Barney - 1979 S3 GS ex ADF with 300tdi
    Arnie - 1975 710M Pinzgauer

    The Cheeky Report

Trip report - Qld Land Rover Clubs Jamboree

Big thank you to all those who attended the event; and participated in the activities with a spirit of goodwill! I am sure that everybody had fun and enjoyed themselves.
Thanks to Janowen Hills 4WD Park for hosting the event for us,
Thanks also to the sponsors who have generously provided prizes for the Jamboree.

I am sure that you are all chafing at the bit to know who won what, but I am afraid that you will have to wait a bit longer, I will tally the results and Post up shortly.

    In the mean time:-
If you did not attend the Jamboree, sucked in - you missed a ripper, we had a Top Gear Theme going across the Weekend, so here are a few awards that I would like to give out now.

The best Jeremy Clarkson award for saying the Word “Power” the most across the Weekend, goes to Harry Mason for his effort around the Dam in Challenge number 6
I don’t think he really thinks Mrs Cheeky drives like that???

The best Richard Hammond award goes to Jnr Grover in the Freelander 1.5???
Some good driving in the “Little Truck”

The Best Caption Slow award goes to Walrover for his efforts in Challenge number 3
As far was we can tell he was second in the challenge because he was the only other entrant apart from the 109 that did not cheat.
“Some Say” that The109 is cheating itself…. All we know is that it’s awesome.

Other busted cheating (bonus points awarded)

    Some got very “creative”

For others it did not go so well.

The Day started with a Show and Shine Challenge

Followed by a Travel Ramp Challenge.

Even Josh had a go, but his tent fell out.

We then moved to the Gymkhana Area for a Series of Challenges
As you have already see there may have been some Top Gear style of cheating going on.
The Reverse Slalom sorted some out

    Some more than others

Though he did do his own gardening

There were other challenges but we were having so much fun, that we forgot to take pictures….. I am sue other will post up more soon.

After the Challenges were over we went for Lunch and an afternoon drive in the park

Next Morning woke up a little chilly

But we were soon into it again with a nice morning drive

Again thank you for having a go, and watch this space for the results, for now I have to go and clean up.

    Cheers

Great pics Tim and Garry, really like all those "Travel Ramp Pics" there was some good shots of a very nice Red 130 there

Do you think we need to put this in the general trip reports area of AULRO so the other clubs can add their photos and comments??

    And the winners are:-

    Show and Shine
Everybody who showed their Rover was a winner and received 10 Jamboree Points for their efforts

    Most Original
The judges (not me btw) could not split the two winners so awarded a tie
    TimJ and Big Mac
    Both receive 100 Jamboree Points

    Most Authentic
    Wal Rover

    Most Capable
    The 109

    Best off road Club Car
    Grizzly Adams

Bonus 100 points to CheekyD1 for Most Dirty Rover

We could not find and Dinged Rovers worth Bonus Points and nobody admitted to rolling or flopping their rover.....

    Travel Ramp
Overall Winner with a distance of 880 mm past the Jeep mark was Grizzly Adams
    Best 100” Rover was Busman
    Best Shorty was TimJ

    Water Carry
After the rules regarding Bonus Points were explained there was so much cheating in this event that our beautiful judge could not keep track of who did not cheat.
We have been back through the pictures and the winner is The 109

    second is WalRover

third was JasonK for cheating the least

Several contestants claimed to have arrived with more than 2 liters of water, some of these also claimed not to have cheated. How a 2 liter ice cream container contains more than 2 liters of water is still to be figured out…….
Bonus points were awarded for traveling over obstacles, and Harry Mason received the Jeremy Clarkson Award. Power!!!!!
Cheryl also awarded 100 Bonus Points to Quigley for gift wrapping his water supply

    Turning Circle
There is a three way tie in this challenge, as the Travel ramp favors the long wheel base, Shorty’s are the way to go here.
    TimJ, John Ellis and Pok
John Ellis gets 100 Bonus Points for having the longest wheel base.

    Dam Lap
“Some say” that she was the best looking judge on the day……….., and that if she drove a lap of the dam she would not get lost?????…….all we know is that she did it in 2:27.
So the winner is Poam66 with a time of 2:24.3 (-2.7 sec)
Second is Wal Rover in a time of 2:30.4 (+3.4 sec)
Third John Ellis 2:22.9 (-4.1 sec)

    Reverse Slalom
Joint winners again Sandman and Big Mac
These competitors may have strayed from the event area in an effort not to go forward.

    Trivia Quiz
The quiz master is JasonK with a score of 47

    And the winners are:-

Overall Jamboree Champion (Jamboree Points Only)
    First Place The 109
    Second Place Grizzly Adams
    Third Place TimJ

Most Bonus Points amassed Harry Mason shame his other score sucked so bad.

    Overall Winner including Bonus Points
    First Place Grizzly Adams
    Second Place The 109
    Third Place TimJ

Thanks again to all who attended the event, and had a go. Looking back over the scores it looks like nearly everybody who came along had a go at all the events.
Next year we are planning to hold the Jamboree on the weekend that both Qld and NSW are on school holidays, maybe some of the down south clubs would like to join.

    Cheers
