thanks for the vid, andrew spielberg.
i didn't steal your wife,
my charm, good looks and well known skilled driving ability attracted her to my car.
ps, does she ever shut up?
more pics please.
Well guys awesome trip and if you didn't make it then sorry but you missed out on some great fun. The days were sunny and the nights were cold sitting around the 1 degree mark but that just made the camp fire all that more social. Anyway on to the pics.
Firstly Harry stole my wife.....
Marcus was having fun in the back of JohnR's Defender.
Chatting about the afternoon plans over the smoking fire from the night before.
Some scenery
Some off roading fun
Interesting pic. JohnR keeps the Defender polished well.....
Grimace directing Jess through the play area.
Pete negotiating logs.
And finally some video. Real men watch in 720p

Well I was happy to make it home with the "pudding joint" that held my two cooling hoses together on the Disco, again a big thanks to the guys up on Bald Knob who noticed and pitched in to get it back together
Now the strange one
My good lady parked her Freelander II at the entrance to avoid paying for a car which we would not take on the tracks. We are quite frugal us scots
When we headed out to Warwick to source some fittings to fix the Disco in a less "Dunga Spec" mannor she complained about a loss in power or more so that " I have my foot to the floor and its not going any faster".
Thinking only of my sickly Disco I put it down to the incline we were going up at the time and we carried on regardless
We brought the wifes car into the park on Sunday to pack up a few things before we headed off as it was a tight squeeze on the way in and the two ever diligent dogs of mine were going daft at the front of the freelander, again we laughed it off saying stupit mutts and finished packing
The Freelander had a friend driving so it was not passed onto us that the same problem happened on the way home
It was today heading home from the go carts that the good lady commented that again her foot was on the floor and could not get past 60kmh
I checked the forums and seen software upgrades and turbo replacements so being the budding mechanic I would like to be I opened the bonnet and found this - See pic
It would appear that my two stupid mutts were telling us we had a critter in the engine bay eating the air intake pipe
Even the landys sitting doing nothing are not exempt from issues from what was a great trip
I dont suppose anyone has one of these doing nothing in the shed?

Great video Andrew. Very impressive!!
Thats such bad luck Garry. presumably something wanted somewhere warm to sleep...
Bloody hell Garry! Thats got to be the most unique damage from a GCLRO trip. I've heard of rats eating the insulation on cables before so maybe it was something similar that liked the taste of Freelander plastic!
Thanks to everyone for a great weekend, I had a ball. The D3 has been more places now that I never thought I could drive. Thanks to Pete and Grimace for your expert guidance thru the tricky stuff.
My favourites were the Skids, the Snake Pit and Brisbane Lane.

What a great trip! Seeing the pics makes me want to go back there again this coming weekend!
There is a number of short creek runs that we missed out on this trip and I am now thinking the Springs is indeed my favourite all round camping & wheelin destination.
I think emu creek has the potential to be up there, but the rock and the valleys along with the grip provided out at the springs is going to be hard to beat!
Excellent work on the video Andrew, looks great. Going to get myself the go pro next time I am down at cameras direct, no talking myself out of it this time!

it was a running commentary to make you feel safe on the tracks
thanks to outcast offroad, all sorted with replacement parts, so soon i will pull out the borrowed axles, tailshafts, diffs, bolts, windows and whatever else and return the parts to their owners
thanks outcast.
Thanks to everyone for making this a great trip. Thanks especially to Harry, Louis, Pete and Anthony (Grimace) for the excellent directions and words of advice to make the 4x4ing a great experience. Looking forward to future trips.
