    Springs 10th - 11th

Great weekend - quick note to all that came on the trip - thanks it was a great social trip just what the doctor ordered.

Mick - well lead even if the road signs in the park are facing the wrong way or maybe we where going up the tracks the wrong way still well lead and very enjoyable.

Rob - looking forward to seeing some of the photos with the amount of wheel stands should be good.As for a full trip report will leave that to mick, but it should be a good report with great photos.

Yep, will get round to full trip report this week but way too busy at work just now to even think about it.....................Bolts, care to write a provisional one up
Photos as I understand are being organised and should be up soon. Rob took most of them and i think it safe to say all those who attended will have something to gloat about....................wheel stand city

Excellent trip, with again, great company and a big up to Ian and Tony from the Springs for cooking some first class food again meaning none of use had to get the pots and pans dirty....................the mars bar cheese cake was a killer though Excellent hosts and very accomodating.

Damage was kept to a minimum again which is good although my tent didn't perform it duties too well during the rain, so didn't make the trip back with me to the coast

    Aye, Mick

    Springs

We arrived at the park around 11.00am and set up camp. Mick G and Andrew, Bolts, Rob, Nath & Michelle and Cooper, myself Annika & Patrick.

We had a relaxing lunch and set off to see the park in daylight instead of the G4 night run previously done last year.

We kept the run to the easy to difficult tracks so as to keep everyone challanged and happy. Even so we put the cars and drivers through their paces and had a great time doing so. With the good trip guidance from Mick and Bolts, and great convoy proceedures we cruised around the park in no time with just a couple of snatch recoveries to keep the excitement levels high.

We returned to camp for refreshments and then set off in just my Rangie, Micks D2 and Bolts D2 for the more demanding tracks. Naths wife Michelle stayed at camp with cooper and kicked back for a while.

We managed to find some great tracks up gorges and creek beds, which had some huge wombat holes through them. This is where Mick and Bolts put on a fine exhibition of wheel standing D2 style. The Rangie on the other hand was quite boring to watch, compared to the D2's. It just kept its feet on the ground.

Mick kept his ding tally going with some superb scratches down the side of the Mack truck. Well done mate.

We raced back as the rain set in, but Michelle had zipped all the tents up for us. What a trooper. Thanks Michelle.

We cleaned up and set off for the restaurant and settled down for a great meal and desert. Definately my style of camping I must admit.

We set of the next morning for a half day drive while the tents dried out and managed to get all the vehicles through some difficult to extremely difficult tracks. This was achieved with some good guidence and equally good driving by all. Plus we got Nath to do some great wheel stands in the D1 through some big wombat holes. Not bad for a standard Disco with a rear locker and all terrain tyres. Well driven Nath. Rob made it look easy in the 90 as he could manouver where we could'nt.

We set off back to camp and aired up and packed up.

I am sure all who attended had a great weekend as I certainly did. The kids put on a great show of skilled Tonka driving to keep us entertained during afternood drinkies.

More of these trips need to be done, but next time 2 nights would be good. Its a great place to take all levels of cars and drivers too, as you can easily please everyone.

Thankyou to Michelle for looking after Annika at shower time.( dads need all the help they can get)

Will post some photos when we get the off Rob.

    regards Justin

I have a camping bank now when I can afford to get on a trip. I can borrow off family 1 of two 4x4 camper trailers or a 15.6-meter pop-top golf caravan . I doubt I will use the tent again unless it is a one-night camp over.
Don’t know when that will be though.
Good to hear the everyone had a successful trip and no damage, which is foremost.

    Photos--all 160+ of them!

Photos are on their way guys. Being a newie I have not yet investigated the way of downloading them onto the forum, so tonight I just burnt them onto disc, which Mick now has, and he will organise posting etc. I am happy to burn the photos on to disc for all who want them--all 4 of you!
Actually the photos turned out great. A lot were similar shots but with altered framing, most of the shots of Mick and Justin's Rangie were rear views, because by the time I caught up with the they were past the obstacles! However, there are plenty of shots of all the vehicles (except the sure-footed Rangie) with wheels well up in the air- Bolts included, but I think the best ones were of Bolt's Disco coming up out of the rocky creek bed, some of those shots were so well framed they could be in a Landy advert.
Anyway, a great weekend guys, fun driving and a great social. The only dampener was when the heavens opened at around 9pm so we scurried to our tents to avoid the downpour rather than getting into some serious ales.
And may I please mention the cricket? Interesting, on the BBC website today, on the sports headlines there was no mention of the one day series going to England 2-0, it was all the usual football results. I guess they have given up caring.
see yah round! Thanks Mick Mr Excellent Trip Leader (can someone else mention the Mick's map reading.......)
