    Cania Gorge 26-28/09/08

well we met at the B.P. at 6am.....well some did as someone was late

headed out to Kilcoy for a scenic run up via Jimna to Murgon....refreshment

stop.....headed out along the back road to Hivesville then up the dirt road

towards Gayndah twas getting late by this time so decided to head straight

up the H/way to Cania. We arrived about 1pm. Set up camp......between

have a few drinks and thinking about it..some took much longer that others

so while extreme's mob set up camp The ho har's, timj, mrs timj and cooee

deciding to take on the National Park walks. Viewed big foot then headed

up to Giant's chair lookout.....straight up the mountain we went.had a

terrific view then deciding this was all too hard and headed back to camp for

    it was happy hour time

had a great campfire chat after dinner and all to bed early as it had been a

    long day

Next morning I heard the sound of a Td5 and looked up see crump

arriving to join us for the day.........with gday's out of the way I jumped into

crump's 110, ho har into cooee's 101..(The ho har's couldn't be bothered to take the camper off red) and with the others we headed on up

    to Kroombit Tops.

    Up to the lookout

then off to Beautiful Betsy drove down

to the "wall"......top camp spot that one.....the track was a lot more washed

out than last time we were there then headed back to camp...said our

goodbye's to crump..........built the fire...........with dinner finished....drinks around the fire

Sunday arrived packed up camp heading off about 9am....said our goodbye's to timj & mrs timj as they were staying another day

We went home on the back road over Possum Range...very scenic...then

straight down the H/way from Gayndah to beat the Sunday arvo traffic.

We had a great weekend with great company

    Cania Gorge

    Hi All,

I can't post into the trip reports section as I am not currently a member so I am posting this up here. If a Mod could add it to the trip report it would be great. We had a great weekend with great company and enjoyed the trip up to Kroombit Tops (we had been there before but not from the direction we came). Just to make everybody happy we did catch a couple of fish in the dam.

Photos of the weekend including some from the dam and the walks we did after everybody else had left are posted up here Cania Gorge album | TimJ | Fotki.com for anyone to view. Anybody have any questions about where any of the photos are let me know.

Brilliant trip to be had by the looks of it... very jealous my fender wasn't ready to go... guess we'll have to do a similar one again another time.

So out of those who attended... how was the drive, distance time etc??? Suitable for similar 3 day adventures?

Thanks for taking over Caroline & Harry... was very much appreciated

The route I took takes longer than going straight up the bitumen.....but who likes to drive in bitumen. The trip up to Kroombit Tops took all day and we had no time to go to the dam.....4 days would be better if including Kroombit Tops tour.

What's the yellow rig? Is that a Forward control (101)? Looks pretty wild - as does crump's wicked Fender.

Will really try to make the next similar trip - thanks for the pics.
