Scenic Rim 4WD Park - Easter

    Hi All

Okay just a short note here 1st and will do a full trip report later.

The park is the on the leased property that was City View. City View is still there "or the land is" but you cant access it as it is fenced off from the new park.

The new park has all the long scenic runs, creek run and some new tracks they are building. New road in and new full toilets and showers, the new owners are putting in some hard work so will see how we go. More on this later.

Basic we had 9 vehicles turn up and we had a good morning doing some of the long runs and creek run, then came lunch and the rain and as we know the park changes very quickly, but with some slip sliding and some great driving and winching we all got down and out of the park safe and sound with no damage know as we aired up.

Big thansk to Justin again for his help today and his driving / winching skills, also a big thanks to everyone who came out today. I had a great day and some fun with members.

Okay will wait for some pictures from White D3 and Sledgehammer and will sit down and do a full report on Monday........

Till then the rest will just have to wait

Crunching video as we speak (so to speak), although the nice bottle of red I'm enjoying may be slowing things down.

    Bolts,

Thanks again for a great day. The rain made things "interesting" as you'll see in the video to come (problems uploading this morning). Justin, big thanks for manoeuvring around me to winch Dave down.

Here's a few pics and the GE kml file is attached.

now I know why ho har put rock sliders on as I now have a very large dent in both of them....can't blame anyone but myself.......... it was good fun diving up that creek

Here's the video. Almost an anti-advert to the FR2 but it was very slippery in the arvo coming down the hill and Dave (and I) had road tyres.

After lunch the whole group headed up Tour Drive 1/2/3 and it had just start to rain lightly. At Waterworks Rd it really started to come down so the Ho Hars, Djhampson and myself decided it was prudent to head back while the rest of the group (with better tyres) headed up Waterworks. At minute 3.45 the 3 of us are up the top on Tour Drive 1 (about 450m) when the fun begins. Just before Dave's first slippery descent I'd already got stuck on a gentle slope and had to be snatched out by Harry.

At minute 4.15 we're on Handbrake Hill which we'd come up earlier with no probs, but it was dry then.

After some tense moments and slides by the Ho Hars in the lead we decided it was best to ease the FR2 down strapped to the D3. Best use of the Courier Mail I've seen in a long time!

On the next to last bend Harry had slid in to a deep rut and then took out a tree exiting out. We were pondering what to do with the FR2 (ie how to get it down without damage) when the rest of the group caught up with us.

The footage of Deranged coming down the track is Justin coming down a parallel black track to get around and in front of my D3 to winch the FR2 down.

The slide in the last few seconds of the video had me all tensed up I can tell you!

    Day trip

Great photos and video folks. Was a good days driving with good people. Shame it was nearly all old City View tracks but it may change. The rain made for some interesting moments I'm sure a few will agree. Great driving by Dave in the Freelander to get it through the park. Great to see 3 RRC's on a trip as well.

    Bring on the Springs.

Was a good days driving, the FL2 did well to get as far as it did. The lack of low range really is unfortunate

The creek run was intersting and it's quite different from last time I drove it (needed front and rear diff locks and 33's as a min to get over the rock step which is no longer there). I do miss the auto in those sort of tight spots and with std gearing and 33's it made the task quite challenging.

Apart from wedging the trailing arm on a big arse rock (no damage) the dunga survived to fight another day

    Trav
