Brilliant "short report".
Distinguished Colleagues,
Another splendid occasion away with the good folk of the GCLRO. With various parties leaving from varied geographical environs, a motley assortment of 4 wheel drive legends were to congregate within the northern reaches of NSW - Rover Park to be precise. Now, as obscurity is my mistress, I have produced some comments on this fine weekend from a somewhat unorthodox angle....
The purpose of this meeting was to investigate the possible use of "smurfs" to delineate esoteric aspects of the more poorly understood parameters of automotive engineering and design. To this end, the exercise was a complete success.
So, by late Friday night - most had arrived, with the last remaining candidates on board by early Saturday. Now - to find some Tenterfield leprechauns....
Some of the motors hunting midgets down by the river...

Of course - there were many fine examples of Solihul's work on display - but the vehicle of choice by the elite (Queen Elizabeth 11, SAS regiment, X-box etc) were also well represented. Here we see the use of partially buried dwarfs to provide rut fill, thereby avoiding over articulation of the Defender's rear wheel...
Once the vehicle has negotiated the rutted terrain, one simply digs up the dwarf and either straps them to the roof rack - or in this case, allow them the drive the remaining section of track by way of reward - here we see a smurf driving the Defender down the easy section...
Some useful parameters had now been established, regarding midget automotive ballast usage, so analytical discussion was now put forth by Professor Grimace around the campfire...
Discussion was taken to a deeper level with contributions from world authorities Lord Harry, Dr James and other noted GCLRO dignitaries...
Discussion and analysis raged to the wee hours - but eventually our convention retired to a solid night's slumber - morning saw Professor Louis working his magic with the bunsen burner...
It had been decided that we required a large contingent of Tenterfield leprechauns to use in a purpose built proving ground - but more on that later. So off we went - searching by the water, a well known meeting place of the midget...
No luck - looking, looking...
There! There! Scallops finds one! Quick - in the vehicles - let's go hunting dwarfs.... Philippe leads the charge - belting the Disco over the challenging terrain...
Next, Scallops sees the midget running out to the side - and goes off in hot pursuit...
Now it was Stevo's turn - you haven't lived 'till you've seen Stevo go after a bit of midget action...
Not to be outdone, Mark thought he spotted one too...
Professor Louis, seen here utilising a midget to activate his dual air lockers...
By now, the midgets knew we meant business - they were running everywhere - the glorious GCLRO boys went in hard after them.... but the Midget's resilience was starting to take its toll - the look on Harry's face left us thinking we were losing this war...
But then - when all seemed lost - Professor Grimace came in with the big gun - the powerhouse Rangie went in hard - Smurfs - resistance is futile, the game is over...
But wouldn't you know it - the small folk had another win. A sacrificial, selfless dwarf somehow managed to jam himself inside the good Professor's wheel arch and the game was over - GCLRO = 0, Dwarfs = Victory....
Alas - the midgets had escaped - even the ones we had buried to avoid over articulation had freed themselves....

Still - in hindsight, I feel we all learnt something this weekend. It's not a question of how far your hair is from your toes - the weekend proved to all that it's how one uses what they got that counts!
The Scallop wishes to thank all my learned colleagues for this most informative experience and wishes to point out that no vertically challenged individuals were hurt in this experience.

haha orsum!
Firstly I had a great time, thanks to all for puttin up with me for the entire weekend. The group of individuals we have in this club is simply the best. I love the welcoming everyone gets, and how everyone lends a helping hand, everyone deserves a pat on the back.
For those that left earlier on sunday you missed out on a lot of excess fuel usage!
As per the previous nights discusion with Stevo, I stuck to my word and drove Land Rover hill, after spectating the full fledged assult of Stikman and Trav I burnt rubber and after many re-attempts the mountain was conquered. yipee!
We drove some rather narly **** and I loved it, special shout out to Stevo for driving most of the terrain in ol Smokey.
Fluffy drove home in better condition than ever. A rope to hold the rattling a frame ball joint in place (thanks Trav, much appreciated), and some sticks bashed into the panhard mount on the diff all helped. Compared to the trip down where I never once moved out of the left lane and a max of 85Km/h on the speedo, the return home sore me hit 105 on the speedo and I over took 25 vehicles, w00t w00t.
Unfortunately I dont have any footage or pictures but I guarantee there is going to be some good footage of everyones vehicles cause we had some master videotographers present.
The damage report is something I will leave to stikman, the tree huggin hippe
Over and out!

Nice report Dan.
I had a great time, another excellent GCLRO trip... how is it possible that they are ALL so GOOD?!?!
I'm really happy with how my Disco went, sliders came in very handy and it was running smoothly. Had a great run this morning too, got some good video of all the extreme creek runs and hill climbs, will post them up soon.
Here are some photo's Tash took with her camera.
Group photo, Louis thought the stump wasn't there

Phillipe at the start of an epic creek run (the bonnet could still close properly back then)
Once again, great trip. Phillipe, thanks for allowing Tash to ride with you this morning, it helped settle her fear of 4wding somewhat, and she really enjoyed this trip as well. All that's left now is for me to teach her how to drive off road...
Cheers

More to come tomorrow.....
What a trip....still waiting for adrenalin to subside after todays adventures. Am pretty stuffed as didnt get home to almost 7. Have had a quick look at some of the video I took...will need some editing....but the stand outs are Trav and a screaming V8 dunga going up Land Rover Hill and Philippe coming to the rescue the day before on same hill.
Will put up more of a report tomorrow and some pics as well.....but thanks to all for an awesome weekend.....if you weren't there....you missed out on a great timewith great folks,
Regards
Stevo, True,Ashton and Connor

Great report & pics, but I must have missed something... I thought it was a 4WD-ing week-end. All I see is Smurf hunting.
Spent the week-end at home, alone with my back out and a bunch of migranes. It was just fabulous.
