High Lift Jack troubles or "I can get it up, but not down"

So, I pull out my Hi Lift, cause I want to use it to pull out a tree stump.

Lifting it is not problems, but when I reverse the leaver to lower again, it wont.

The leaver moves into the correct position, but it appears as thou the bottom pin wont move properly to enable it to lower.

Just to be sure, I lifted the disco with it, to ensure that there was enough weight on it. Once again, no problems lifting, but cant lower. Had to put the trolley jack under the car to get it off.

So, is it me, or is it the jack???

And if it is the jack, is it a fixable problem, or is it time for a new one?

Lube it with silicone spray. It'll work like a new one.

WD40 might be your friend, if not sounds like one of the springs is missing/broke.

Sounds like the same problem I had with mine. I think you'll find one of the pins is not quite moving full throw. It's probably just sticking. I cleaned and oiled the pins and it worked fine for a while.
I've been told it sticks because I don't use it often enough. I've been told I should get the Landy bogged more.
I find the easiest thing I found is to wack it with a hammer (although it is probably not recommended). Not too hard, you just want to move the pin. Oh, and make sure you don't dislodge the jack.

I had a similiar probem with mine (and still do).

To operate, the jack has two sliding pins that move in and out through the holes in the main pole. If you look closely at the mechanisim that makes these pins slide in and out you might find a much smaller pin that is bent. I have to regularily spin this pin around to make my HL go down.

It's pooring with rain atm so I cant get a pic to show you

hit it with RP7 / WD40 / spray-on cooking oil or anything similar to start with, then use it and maintain it

(you can always try the post up the other way as well)

I went over mine 3 weeks ago and removed cleaned and refitted said pins.
Rotated pins 1/2 a turn so now on "new" section.
I also wd40 each time I use it (must get a boot for it on day).
    Cheers, Kyle
