    Eastern Creek

I took my daughter out to Eastern Creek to do a driver training course today. She passed her driving test two weeks ago. I figured it was an investment in her safety and her driving future. She will be doing the next stage in a few weeks.

Spent most of the day on the skid pan, whilst different classes cars/clubs burned around the track. A great day and I can't speak highly enough of the training and how it was conducted.

Here are a few pics from the day.

Good one Mick, but as I'm sure you're aware, the greatest asset she can have to maintain her safety, is the right attitude. She's a sensible young lady and her gender is on her side, so she has a good chance.

AAMI offer their customers free advanced driver training for drivers under 25. We wanted our daughter to do it but it will soon be too late - she's 25 this month.

When I was looking around for my first insurance AAMI offered this and a 10% discount on my premium but when I asked about the content in the training course it was a little light on. They didn't cover understeer \ oversteer recovery so I didn't bother doing it.

I ended up doing the Holden Defensive Driving course at Ormeau. Fantastic 2 day course with time on the skid pan and on an oversteer-generating turntable. They also have a nice little track to practice driving line and braking techniques.

I reckon they should make this type of course mandatory for all new drivers. How many times do you see someone go into a roundabout and understeer and all they do is wind on more and more steering?

The benefits would surely outweigh the cost of the course. Cut the number of pointless TV ads that have achieved nothing over the last few years and give real life experience and education to drivers. Not some flashy ad that relies on shock.
