Just wondering after talking to the dealer at the field days yesterday, is there any way of finding out from Land Rover how many defenders they have sold in 09/10?
At the Lucindale field day in south east S.A. today. And... Wait for it... There was a Landrover stand. It was the dealer from over in Millicent, they had two defenders, one was a 130 single cab with a tray for $48,000 and the other was a dual cab 110 (the dealer's own car) with prices starting from $51,000.
Angus MacDonald is the dealer, I've only dealt with him once (he gave me the radio code for my 300tdi for free), but he seems like a good bloke. I asked him how the defenders were selling and he said that he's sold three 110 tray backs to date this year. Not bad for a small town with a toyoda dealer as well. Seems like there might be a few around that I can buy in about 5 years.
Oh, I should mention that they had a Disco and a number of Freelanders there as well.

That's where I bought my Defender from (over 10 years ago now!).
Angus is a great bloke, and he loves Land Rovers.
I suspect now the Defender range has expanded again he will sell more tray back utes to the farmers again too!
Oh and there was a Rangie Sport there too!
1999 110 Defender 'Extreme' TD5
Broke down in the Rangie at Beachport years ago. Got towed to Millicent and needed a new starter motor, and they didn't want to know me.
Ended up going to a private guy around the corner who was a rover mech from the old days.
A few of the local guys here with Deefers, always take them to Millicent for a decent service though.
Whoops, didn't actually notice it was a Rangie, to tell you the truth once I saw the dual cab 110 I wasn't paying all that much attention to the other vehicles. Even my mother said she finally understood why I was so fanatical about landy's when she saw that. Where abouts in the south east are you located?

Son, whilst living in Mt Gambier had similar experience with them. Weren't interested in servicing his 110 or getting parts for it. Only interested in selling their Fords or a new Land Rover. Not helpful at all
G'day Folks
This can be the problem with lots of Dealers/Stealers, a good enthusiastic sales department manager, and a poor quality service manager who is not interested in even trying, I was originally tought that you can buy a vehicle/parts from anywhere, but if you sell service, the customer will keep returning, and if you are good at it, when service/parts are needed, the customer thinks of a person's name and phone No before the company name
cheers
Agreed, so far with this dealer though I have found them to be very good across the board. I am currently getting a few prices for things from their parts man, he has always been pretty helpful even to the extent of giving me parts numbers and blow-up maps of parts when he knew I wasn't going to be buying from them. And as I mentioned earlier they gave me the code when they were supposed to charge for it. I'll have to see how it goes as time progress'.
