As for asking for pictures from a wrecker of the inside of an engine
Could you disassemble and take pictures please (you cant be serious)

I know without asking what they would say

But when the MAF arrived broken it got me thinking
yep, serious. Bought and sold god knows how many engines in my years in the engine game. No need to disassemble, just remove rocker cover as this can tell you a lot about the overall condition of the engine by the internal cleanliness of it.
As I used to import truck engines, we asked for this as a way of determining what were to be rebuilds and what were good secondhands before we spent $100k on them and got them over here. You would be surprised at the amount of high mileage engines that were clean as a whistle and low k's that were shot. All comes down to maintenance.

    Cheers

Yep, that's water and oil emulsified.
Either a leaking liner, head gasket or runs so short, it's never heated up enough to evaporate any moisture but that's the least likely of the three by a longshot.
