Having my RRC on Gas to feed the 4.6Lt engine - I found that running it on gas seems to tarnish? or break down the oil quicker - just change out the engine oil more often ;)
In 5,000km my oil went from freash to a really deep black. Altho I have been doing lots of trips - just something to be aware of ;)

From what i have been told your oil should be cleaner after running gas compared to petrol.Mine always use to be pretty clean compared to when i ran straight petrol.

As for km's out of it - I seem to get about 300ish from 80lt when loaded up & touring - tested it on a trip from Mansfield to Dargo. Around town its less but still good. :D
On the Gas V's Petrol thing ..... I agree with the claims on savings ..... the gas works out to be much much cheaper ...... and the Disco has not missed a beat on gas after ironing out a few installation problems early on ....
As for the oil .... our family truckster is a BA Ford wagon, which is now 4 years old. It is a factory installed dedicated gas vehicle and the oil is as clean as a whistle even after 250,000 k's of travelling (we do a lot of visiting). I change it myself about every 10K and the car is running like a dream (touch wood - touches head) .........

Nah my friend, it's just your installer was too slack to set the system up properly. Correct fitment of plugs and leads is the key to success with these motors. There are things that are peculiar to the Holden V6 which you need to know just like any other vehicle such as a Land Rover. There are far too many gas installers who have no clear idea how gas operation is different to petrol, and neither do they know anything about electricity.Quote:

My 101 now runs well - timing 9 degrees before TDC and no pinging on 91 ron petrol. Tacho now works connected to - tive side of the coil rather than + ive.
LPG has a lot going for it and few cons.

I have had 2 dedicated gas Ford utes and still have an RTV. Reason for joining Landie club is I want to go the Birdsville races this year, but there is no gas outback. Want a rangie.
Anyhow just about had enough of LPG as the hp is way down and sick of the back firing even from a factory fit.
Another thing is the price. Out in the bush the cost is horrific, so their is no point especially when the Gov is increasing the tax this year by 2.5 cents/ltr.
Just watch the servo's gouge the price and blame it on the tax.
Anyway, I think LPG will be superseeded as CNG is the go, if we can get the polies out of big oils pockets.
250 years supply of the stuff and we are selling it off like a brides nightie to the world, but are too dumb to use it ourselves. Typical.
Is available in Melbourne, but no where else at the moment. A home fill company tried to set up, but there are too many scare mongers out there lobbying on behalf of bigoil, so it didn't take off.
The Kiwi's have been running on the stuff for years.
