When I unlock it and get in it starts no problems .... if I turn it off and wait a few minutes and then try to restart the thing it does nothing. It appears the immobiliser has flicked itself on some how as the little red vehicle indicator on the left hand side of the dash flashes on and nothing happens.

If I lock the vehicle and then unlock it again it starts ....... but then does the same thing if i turn it off again and try to start without locking and unlocking it ..... What's going on with it .........

Hucksta, I am currently having the same problem as you have described and would like to know if you have found a solution? Would appreciate a reply. Thanks.

When my 96tdi played the immobiliser would cut the engine out whilst driving. I wanted to buy a new remote fob as we didn't get one with the car and the Rick here on the Gold Coast said the immobiliser wont work if you don't use the fob, but the cost for memory was $180-$215, so as I was going to the UK 3 months later I bought one from Duckworth Landrover for 35 Pounds. Do a Google search and get a price from them via email. The process to program it in came with it, it was a PITA but it all worked fine after that.
