    Once bought a new D3 - so pick a time ! ! !

Just got to Loyalty Beach (Cape York) camping grounds when the "Suspension Fail" warning light came on, air suspension locked it self in "On road" mode. No more 4 Wheel driving for the rest of the trip, nearest LR mechanic 1000k's of dirt development road away. Not Happy - it was the last straw for the D3.

    Then there was the time.....

    And that other time......

    Got a Defender now, happy days ! ! !

Never had one let me down ever, now where is that BIG piece of wood.

Actually did have one failure, stuffed battery, decided to fail in the carport at home,so that was convenient.

Currently on my sixth Land Rover in nearly 40 years and have only once not been able to get my self home. Had a timing chain break out in the Jenolan State Forest in a diesel SWB Series III.

No major show stoppers but my P/S pump failed in the middle of Kew Junction at peak hour on my 300Tdi which necessitated a quick belt chop to get out of the clearway.

That was five weeks ago and I haven't bothered to fix it yet because I've had use of the nicest Japanese dual cab Ute with 400Nm of torque and quite frankly I'd not be the least bit upset if it stayed this way forever

Did a timing belt at 88000k on the clock on New Years eve out the back of Lake grace heading to see the new millenium (0k not technically, it was 1999 but it was the "peoples' new millenium) at Duke of Orleans Bay east of Esperance. Knew nothing about the timing belt issues and upgrade required. It was being serviced by the dealer too and the Esperence dealer who repaired it said the cover had a white paint mark to show it had been upgraded but it hadn't.

It did a rocker arm for some reason out of Margaret River and went back to Perth on a truck but no biggie - I was on the way back from holiday to work not on the way to the holiday as above.

Brought a new Puma in towards the end of 2008. Went to the country music festival in Tammworth with the family and towed a pop top van.
All was good untill i went to go home.
Pulled the van out of the back yard into the driveway, went in for a coffee, and when i went to go it was stuck in first gear.Could not get it out.Ended up being tilt trayed back to Port Macquarie and they replaced the gear box.Long trip back home.

In 1998 the Disco 300 Tdi head gasket let go at Gundagai on our way for a family Christmas in Melbourne ...sons and I abandoned it and had a great time regardless. Two months later I had a rebuilt engine...no regrets eh. Haven't looked back until now.

24 years of having Landies and can only remember one let down, in a holden powered(V6) 82 RRC. Some electrical gremlins when thermos cut in as it got hot.
Other than that they have been faultless, well not faultless maybe just not really let me down.

My white Tdi, engine immoboliser started cutting out, and got progressively worse. So partly my fault when it decided to stall at peak our traffic... although for most here Hobart peak hour is like a suburban street there in a big town

Still managed to get it started and got home. Eventually died at home (thankfully) and replaced the unit with the spider one.
