IMHO That brown powder substance that comes in bottles has nothing to do with coffee.
I disagree, drinking espresso is like eating a beehive, drinking instant is like eating honey! Just the pure essence of the bean freeze-dried into a perfect crystal, ready to melt. None of that woody and pithy stuff.

Okay, perhaps I'm a little wrong, but I like instant coffee, (1) because I'm tight and (2) it's not bitter. Though if you use an arabica bean and don't shred it too fine, you can avoid the bitterness too.

On the upside, coffee (in moderation -suggested as 3 cups per day) reduces the incidence of GIT (gastointestinal) cancers and reduces the risk of alzheimers (by about 30% according to one study).

On the downside for coffee snobs, but the upside for connoisseurs of instant blends, unfiltered coffee contains a long chain enzyme that increase cholesterol absorption. Instant coffee doesn't have this, nor does filtered coffee (ie paper filter).

Back to subject, 25 coffees is too many. I do a 14 hour night shift and would probably max the shift at 5 cups, though usually 3-4 cups.

Coffeesnobs are not just a latte set...we often drink other forms of coffee made with fresh often home roasted beans...for eg' plunger or drip filter....the but common theme is fresh coffee that does not come from supermarket.

As to espresso being bitter...mate you have to try my espresso's made into a white coffee (flat white for eg) cause you wont believe home much sweeter it is than instant - part of that is that most instant is Robusto bean coffee which is naturally bitter (not to mention higher in caffeine). Coffeesnobs usually use 100% Aribica.

I always used to have sugar (1-2) with my instant coffee, but as soon as I started roasting my own and using good equipment to make the coffee's on I was able to cut out sugar (in fact having it would be TOO sweet) cause the coffees I am making are sweet - tasting of chocolate and malt with a usual accompaniment of berries or fruit of some description depending on the bean used.

    Cheers

I had a serious video of a doctor into alternate therapies [think the video was from the Mayo Clinic], who uses Coffee Enemas on Cancer patients [black without milk and sugar if you were about to make a smart comment ]. According to this video, one little boy who had a family member who used Coffee Enemas saw a guy about to drink a coffee, so the little boy exclaimed "You actually drink that stuff!"

Wow, isn't any cancer going to live in my GIT! ....... and 10% less Alzheimers per cup @ 6 double shots per day = 120%......... does this mean I have 20% more brain??

Anyhow, your not a snob till you start to buy green.

We get our beans from a local roaster who also makes their own chocolate. An espresso and a square of 70% dark and my wife is a happy lady. Make her a coffee in the morning and I can fiddle with the Deefer til it's time for another shot in the arvo. Fresh coffee is good for many things!

Did you see ACA on TV last night. They had a woman who drinks 70 liters of Coke Zero every week, and talked of all the physical problems that amount of caffeine causes.

One of the main problems is Osteoporosis from all the Phosphoric Acid in soft drinks, but doctors were talking about other major problems from all that Caffeine.
