yet another chainsaw thread

Hi People.
I have a HEAP(12 to 15tonne),of green whitegum(Wandoo) logs to cut up into rings this weekend.
Any ideas of which solvent is good to disolve the gum buildup on the chain.
Have chapps,earmuffs,gloves,eye protection,sunscreen and even a box of condoms incase a cougar sees what she likes.

wandoo , are you kidding , thats what they love to use for railway sleepers , white ants wont even touch then untill they are about 15 years old . let it dry out for at least 3 years

Hi Richard.
Cuts like butter when its green!!!!
We are tree clearing for roadworks and its all getting burnt in bonfires,such a waste.
Will cut this lot up over the weekend and get more next week(another 20 to 25T).
Im buying a hydraulic splitter to chop it up.
It can then dry for a few years.

Daft question time but what is a ring. Wouldn't it be easier to cut to smaller logs so it would be easy to split with an axe..

Hi Jason
you cut a log into rings,or foot blocks for firewood size,then you split it.
Will buy a machine to do the splitting.

Over here, we call logs cut up "rounds".
Mind you, any bit that gets put on a fire is also called a "log".
