    07 Prado Injectors

    Well

Some people put down our Landies as being unreliable , expensive to run etc etc etc.

A fellow at work has a 07 Prado with just 70,000 kms on it.

Luckily he felt that it was running rough and as warranty was just about to run out he had Toymotor check it out.

$ 5000 worth of work under warranty to have all 4 injectors replaced at only 70,000 kms

I agree with you, too many times I hear the same old ****e from others (including LR owners here!) about how unreliable LR's can be

Sure, things will break and become unreliable IF one continuously dumps there vehicle in deep sandy muddy slop, or rev the crap out of it with one wheel in the air and wonder why they did a diff or axle... happens to any machine.

Old news, the D4D's have had injector trouble from new,When I ran my own on site workshop a few years ago I couldn't buy injectors for them,Tojo couldn't keep them in stock and they had to use S/H ones that they got from wrecks etc.The trouble wasn't only the injectors but the ECU would loose it's memory and not accept one or more of the injectors and misfire or go into shut down mode, the latter ment going home on a truck.Another one of the many problems that non Toyota owners never hear about. Up on site there is a couple of D4D hiluxs that have had to have their injectors replaced.. about 150k I think from memory, which is not to bad I guess.. I just wouldnt like to be paying to replace them. Sure the extra power is great.. But I could not justify paying $5,000 for just injectors. The ECU problem is also quite prolific. Again like Pat said, if you didnt own one, you probably wouldnt know... Makes me happy in my loins that I own a direct mechanical injection 4WD... At least I can replace mine for under $500 for the four

Gee, that makes the Td5 'extremely unreliable' at easily 350 to 400K on injectors...I can count the injectors I have replaced on Td5's on 1 hand- and get change

Also, LR genuine price from last check was still under $1k per unit, genuine, over the counter.

AND that 'unreliable' Td5 lucas ECU is ALWAYS a problem....NOT. Only 1 I have replaced had been immersed in briney water for 5 hours, and then left unrinsed for a week..

Stig0000000000 had one problem with an ECU, but that is rare AFAIAC.

Carry on enjoying your Landies folks and folkettes

Yep with the rad rod it if it hasn't been done then drop it off at a Rad shop and get them to clean the whole system with new thermostat and check the fan and do a pressure test,if you do it every year you'll never have overheating troubles.. Found the smiley faces,if you press the quick reply they aren't there. Pat
