    Insurance repair fair time frame

    Hullo,

wondering if anyone can help, 2 1/2 months ago one of my work vans caught fire, it went off to the insurer's who have then assesed it as repairable ( almost complete re-wire ) and then passed it onto an auto electrical repairer here in Sydney.

So far it has missed three delivery dates, and I have just been told it will be another 3 weeks at least before they see the greatly anticipated parts....they think. So I'm guessing it will still be some time after that.

So with that news I started getting grumpy as I've been hiring replacement vehicles in the meantime as and when needed and it's getting exy.

Question is, what ia a fair time frame for repair's?,i've been throught the policy with a fine tooth comb and can't even see a reference to a fair time frame, at this point calls to them are just fobbing me off, surely they must have some obligation to get it back on the road?

Anyone in the industry and know where I can take this?

    Cheers,

    Ray

Considering that it's a work vehicle does your cover include lost income? You could call fair trading and see what they say.

Have you called your insurer and asked them why it is taking so long and what they intend to do about it. Did you choos ethe repairer or did they?

You could also seek legal advice and possibly send a letter of demand to your insurance company for lost income due to the time taken to fix the vehicle. If you have a legal right to do so you might find that they take a more proactive stance, especially if it's going to end up costing them more than the car is worth.
