I was put onto REMLR.com, as a veritable feast of military Land Rover information, years ago by Firey, and haunted that site picking oodles of info from it that helped immensely with my vehicle restoration of the time. Once the resto was close to being completed and I had picked the majority of the info I needed from REMLR, I ventured onto their forum (which was/is hosted by AULRO,) purely for the entertainment value. Things naturally progressed from there and I am still here today.

Being a newbie and doing this in my 3 week old D3 with high tide fast approaching and SWMBO taking snaps of sheer panic....

I did 3 things.
One...I thanked God for not drowing my D3.
Two...I bought a recovery kit and air compressor.
And Three.....came across GCLRO....which lead me to AULRO. Have since been a member of GCLRO for over 4 yrs and ditto a forum member on AULRO. Unlike some..am fairly reserved and have a preference of keeping to myself ;),

I came via REMLR.
It was back when I was in Year 12 and bored, so naturally I got looking at pics of series landies. :D
Between that and AULRO threads that kept coming up when I was looking for info on what I'd need to do to the Series III in the garage.
Interestingly, at the time I was also mildly interested in biofuels, but we can see which is the more interesting forum! :D:D
:)
I've been considering getting a Puma for some time and mentioned that to a mate of mine, he happened to be a a little Shonky and he pointed me in this direction.
Onya Shonky!
I found the place when searching for info on my Defender.
And yes JD we met on LRO and I put you onto this place.
I don't remember !
I joined because I was researching D2's for a potential purchase to replace the family people mover (Tarago) ...
Having owned 2x S3's years back, I was taken with the amount of info and help available that wasn't available back then (before the internet) ... realised this place was a little LR Compendium of knowledge that you couldn't find anywhere else, and joined up!
Why ask a LR nay sayer when I can ask you lot ? :)
Thanks everyone! :)
Kev..
I was looking at getting a "real" 4WD after having a Subaru Forester XT. It was a great car and I hammered it around dirt tracks. This started me off in wanting to go bush but its clearance was not that great and the times I ventured deeper I was only able to slowly follow behind my friends D1 and this settled the issue that I had to part with the Forester to be able to enjoy off roading proper.
My friend in the D1 put me back in contact with Micheal2 who as everyone knows is a one eyed Landy lover!
He tried convincing me that buying a Nissan Patrol GQ would not be as good as a Defender. To add credence he put me on to this forum and I was madly reading for about 4 months before deciding to buy my Defender.
It's been a fun experience and have enjoyed not only the vast expanses of this country but have also found the time working on the truck either fixing it or improving it very therapuetic especially as it is so far from my normal job in IT.
Thanks Michael2 ;-)
