    Red Hill clearing sale

Went to this sale on Saturday. Couple of local farmers started collecting many years ago, getting on a bit now and decided to sell most of their collection. Total in dollars was just under one million, took the cook with us to show her what a real toy set should look like.

Stuart Tank fitted with ford 302 and auto, wonder if you could get club rego. $10500

    Bren gun carrier $18000

Continental 7 cyl radial $6000. Goblin jet engine [Great name] $6500

    1904 hornsby $30.000 [ not a typo ]

Advance on right of picture made $27000, Jelbart 16 at left $47000

    Mercedes 800+hp ex marine $5000.

Avon jet engines C.A.C and Rolls Royce, $8500 and $9500

    Very early stihl $1400

This was going to another Museum. Huge , could be where the term overhead cam originated

    Red blitz 2x4 $500, 4x4 $2000

    Renault crawler $27000

40 or more tractors, about $20000 average

Fowler dozer $5000, can remember my father using one, cartridge start.

Centurion tank, tried to get the cook to do a Cher pose, told me to get a bigger barrel. $36.000. Have other photo's let me know if you want more.

    Cheers Greg

Is that little yellow crawler next to the Renault a '60s International? Did you happen to catch what it went for?

Looks a bit like an inter, but it was a 28 hp fiat. Made $9000

My god. $26,000 for a Lanz. You would have to be really obsessed. We had an old Lanz with a yard crane built on it at Winton in the fifties. What a pig of a thing. Worst mongrel thing to start in the cold I ever came across. no wonder farmers dumped all those hard starter types in a trice when press button cold start diesels became readily available.

Can imagine that it would be pretty frustrating to go through the 20 minute starting ritual that these things required on a cold day, just to use it for 5 minutes to lift something. This one was one of the last of the bulldogs, had a starter fitted. They were also a 2 stoke diesel, didn't scare the birds from the sky like a Detroit though.

    Cheers Greg
